    Frying with coconut oil.

Just wondering what the harm is in frying with coconut oil? I fried a piece of Panko breaded tilapia in 1 tablespoon of coconut oil and it was amazing. I counted the calories for the tablespoon of oil in my macros for the day. Any harm? I'd like to do this more often.

Can't go wrong with coconut oil.
    - Your mindset influences your outcome. It's time to take out phrases like "I can't" or "I don't have time" and replace them with phrases like "I will make the time" and "I will keep working at it until I find a way that works." Success starts with the right mindset and believing in yourself and your dreams.

The concern with fried foods is bringing the oils past their smoke point.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smoke_point

Coconut oil has a relatively high smoke point (see link above), and most foods are pan-fried at approximately 350-375 F.

I wouldn't be too concerned about it, but thats why fried foods are commonly considered 'unhealthy'. As well as the popular misconception that dietary fat = body fat and is the devil.

I never cook with any other oil! I love it in salad dressings too. I also cook diced apple in a little bit of coconut oil with pumpkin pie spice to top my oats. Sooooo yummy.
I wish I could eat it out of the jar, but it makes me gag

Virgin Coconut oil has a fairly lower smoke point though (like most Virgin oils), however it's not really an issue. Coconut oil is almost completely saturated fat, which is highly resistant to the negatives effects caused by smoking. It's a fairly unique oil in this regard. Basically it doesn't matter a damn if it smokes.

It's a very good all-around product. I shave with it, far superior to most shaving products, unbelievable softness later, nice slightly "nutty" smell and of-course no synthetic chemicals or additives of any kind. So unless you're allergic to the oil itself, it's very skin friendly. Only downside is that it's still an oil and tends to clog razors after every swipe, so you have to use a strong, hot water pressure to rinse the razor. Other than that, it's great. And of-course, a good moisturizer to use at any time, on any part of your body.

You ever put a metal mixing bowl on low heat, melt some coconut oil in it, toss some cubed up sweet potato in it with salt/pepper/cinnamon/chipotle, pour that out onto a cookie sheet with a silpat in it and roast it at 400 degrees for 35 minutes or until done? Something about the flavor of coconut oil and the natural sweetness of the sweet potato hits my palette like cotton candy. It's like eating eating dinner with a side of sweet potato pie except good for you.
