Mirin your breakfast drakey
Today's leg day:
Squat
45 x5
135 x5
225 x3
300 x4
225 x12
High leg press
5PPS x20
5PPS x20
Single leg curl
50 x20
50 x20
Calf raise
3PPS x20
3PPS x20
Solid leg day. Considering last squat day I did 275 x6, 300 x4 isn't too bad. I was also wearing shoes with a sole, which probably made it significantly more difficult, and I wasn't able to find a belt. Next time I'm going for 310 x5. Decided to throw in another set afterwards with higher reps, pumped the f*ck outta my quads. Calves were slaughtered by those two sets, they looked so joocy today

Military press
45 x5
95 x5
160 x3
Seated DB press
80s x5
70s x10
Seated OHP
135 x5
Pullup (none of the pullup bars in the rec center are straight bars, they're all at awkward ass angles making pullups way more difficult than they used to be for me)
x20
Cable row
180 x20
160 x20
140 x20
Wide grip pulldown
160 x10
Shrug
185 x??
275 x12
275 x12
Side lateral raise
27.5s x10
BB curl
80 x10
60 x15
Single arm pushdown
30 x20
I haven't been getting much sleep lately and I have a pretty bad caffeine problem, time to sort this out. Workout was pretty sluggish because of that. Also eating at too much of a deficit, weighed 190 flat this morning. Need to eat a bit more.
I've decided to walk on to the football team next year. Time to get very un-natty

DE LOWER DAY:
Box squats (belt, sleeves, regular stance) :
45 x 3
45 x 5
Add single avg bands
45 x 4
115 x 3
185 x 3
225x2x8 (front vid on 4th set, side vid on last set)
These were DOPE. I love them. Love them love them LOVE THEM.... Because I hate them.
Hip Thrusts:
135 x 4
225 x 3
225x4x2
Wow, sense something wrong here? Yeah... Weak glutes are weak.
Pullthroughs:
97.5 x 12
130 x 12
157.5 x 10 (vid)
157.5 x 10
Tried to make a video showing it but it's hard to hear.... Externally rotating the hips all the way back (hard to see via video) and loading the hamstrings.
Front Squat:
115 x 5
135 x 5
155 x 5 (vid)
185 x 5
These look so much easier than they feel. Upper back was collapsing, but depth was ehrmahgerd.
Also- if anyone knows a good way to set up bands for deadlift WITHOUT A BAND PEG PLATFORM... plz halp.
Tymen.
Edit: gf fell while squatting. Lolz were had.Last edited by DDon1996; 09-08-2013 at 08:30 PM.

YO!
Those pics!!!!!!!!!!!1111!!1!!1!!!!!!!11!111111 1 1 1 1 1 ! 1 !
I need to find a sugar daddy to fund all of these trips I want to take. That view looks incredible. and hiking up slate rock? stay safe bro.
So, watching your pullthroughs vs Eric Cressy's, I feel like his has much more knee flexion and a more narrow stance.
Can you give me some good arguments for why the difference? I notice your form is more like the one on Tnations site, but that guy is rounding his back a TON.
*This isnt confronational, this is just curious. When people have a difference in opinion on form, I always want to know reasonng for both sides so I can decide for myself.

l0000l, when you find a sugar daddy I want to share him (nohomo). Yeah the crushed slate was about 3/4 mile to a peak, and we didn't feel that peak was high enough, so we made our own trail which involved real mountain climbing to the next peak which is theoretically the highest peak in Bonner County.
Tbqh I haven't heard of/seen Eric Cressey's or T-nation's videos so I can't babble on about them- but to address your two points specifically (and simply)..
Knee extension occurs via quad contraction and hamstring relaxation. You could argue that they are loaded eccentrically but the weight isn't nearly heavy enough or controlled enough to make that a reasonable argument. You could also argue that the hamstrings are used in hip extension so they ARE still active concentrically, but the hamstrings get worse at extending the hips when the knees are flexed. Either way you look at it, the hamstrings are ded.
As for the narrow/toe's forward stance.... A wider stance makes the glutes fire. Turning your feet outward makes the hamstrings fire AND allows you to turn your hips outward causing muscles deep in your ass to fire. There's nothing "wrong" with doing it narrow stance/feet forward (except that your ROM may be more limited assuming no knee flexion), but it's not putting you at the best mechanical advantage.
With that said...
