Max amount of water you can drink is independent of weight. It is only dependent on how much water your kidneys can process. Your kidneys can process about 15 liters of water per day max.
The most important thing about drinking a lot of water is timing. Make sure you spread it out evenly throughout the day. Your kidneys can only process 1 liter of water per hour max... You try and drink 15 liters of water all at once and you will probably die.

You're definitely clinging on to a ton of water weight. The bigger you are the more you hold on to, I can hold on to at least 6 lbs of water weight. Keep your head up and keep going, you're doing great! You've inspired me to work even harder, thank you for that!
And remember, any progress is progress.Last edited by sa7soon; 12-02-2013 at 11:51 PM.

you are aware that at 587 pounds you probably retain a lot more water than a 200 pound person right? therefore weight fluctuations have little to do with your progress at this stage of the game. please consider keeping it at 2 weeks. id like to make sure you continue to stay motivated. if you fall short, you can fine tune. extending out weigh ins isnt going to solve your "problem"
i think i speak for a lot of people when i say i check in every weigh in to see your progress. Keep in mind, your story is inspirational and everyone wants to give you encouraging words. the most encouraging words happen to come after weigh ins and bench marks. dont lose the fire inside bro. everyone here wants you to succeed. This is bigger than you bro. there arent excuses anymore for anyone because of this thread. with whatever you decide ill be in here to encourage (and nag you if that time ever comes).
edit: regarding water weight taking potassium will help also drink lots of water. also limit salt.Last edited by Market_Pantry; 12-03-2013 at 02:04 AM.

The Biggest Loser is in some ways a good example of what's probably happening. The contestants will starve and dehydrate themselves before the weigh ins (one winner ended up pissing blood). Therefore, the biggest variable is the extent to which they can shed water and glycogen, and so while they may have lost fat, they will not have lost 'weight'. Now, obviously WB not going to extremes like that, but at his weight, water retained due to glycogen and salt can vary his weight by a considerable amount. Maybe a solution would be to establish protocols for weigh ins; drink a lot of water the day before, before you've had a meal etc.

Wetty you still lost 4 lbs man! I know it's not what you expected, but a) weight loss is not a constant downhill race, it's a cross country trail with peaks and valleys and b) when you look back in 6 months (which will pass way more quickly than you think) and you've lost a big chunk of weight, you won't be thinking about that 2 weeks where you lost 4 instead of 10 or whatever you wanted.
You are doing amazingly well, don't ever doubt it.
Also I know you'll do what you feel is right, but my two pennies worth is that I don't think reducing the consistency of your weigh ins is the way to go. It is harder to recollect what you did over a month than it is over two weeks, so monthly weighs in won't be half as educational as twice monthly. Also, you need to learn to deal with disappointing weigh ins, they will happen again and again throughout your journey, don't back away because you got a result you didn't like, kick it in the face and come storming back the next time!!!xxx

Wetty!
Sorry I missed the weigh-in. I was sick yesterday.
As someone who is trying to lose weight; I understand your frustration. Sometimes the scale won't reflect what we hope it will! Dieting has it's ups and downs, so just keep that in mind and know that if you keep plugging away, you will reach your goal.
4 pounds is an accomplishment--especially during Thanksgiving!
I'm also impressed with your culinary skills. That dinner looked great!
Proud of you, man.

How funny that a little change in perspective can skew your view of your own success.
I would be stoaked with 2 lbs per week in fact I would slow it down to 1.5 if possible and still be elated.
Be proud of yourself. There is no reason you find dissatisfaction in your success; it's counterproductive to your ultimate goal.

Based from my studies in Exercise Physiology, you really should be eating fewer calories than what you are. I know I am to be targeted as an idiot, psuedo expert, whatever it may be but I know what is required. Caffeine also helps to an extent but not in copious quantities. Eat fewer carbs but not too few. "Fat burns in the carbohydrate flame". You will see tremendous progress with eating much less, not however with the logic of starving yourself by any means or SIMPLY eating less. Aim for 2,000-2500 kcal. I cannot give you the hard numbers at this time, but I may PM you some basic calculations at a later time.

Keep up the good work WB. I weighed a whopping 8 lbs heavier after Thanksgiving (did not count cals, was probably in the 3000-4000 range when I am normally 1400 while cutting) so water retention can play a huge role.
