If you dont want your hands scuffed up, wear some. What other ppl think on a forum should be the last thing you worry about when you go to the gym. I have almost thought of picking me up some, because I dont like the skin folds that happens when you grip heavy weights correctly. I think one of the reasons I have problems with tendonitis is incorrectly holding weights over time because I didnt want these calluses, and rest the weight on my fingers instead of of the center of my hand. Just guessing, though.
Anyways, if you dont want your hands screwed up, then just buy some gloves. Lots of guys at my gym wear them, I'm sure enough at your gym wear them that you wont garner any looks.

a belt is not for support, it's for giving your abs something to brace against to help strengthen your squats/deads. if you're wearing a belt to avoid back injuries, you have confused what a belt is for. also, i don't see how gloves give more support. if you're using a thicker bar, how is adding extra thickness (from the glove) giving you more support?

I did not know that about the belt. But the glove makes it seem like my hands wrap around the bar better because I have longer fingers and it just doesn't feel full you know, like full circumfirence, the gloves and thicker bar just feel more natural to me, or for instance using this plastic wide handle/grips for dips. I just know it works with my hands.

yes it supports in that meaning, but 99% of the people wearing them in the gym (including myself at one point) do so b/c they think it's helping to protect their back in some way. which it doesn't. but i feel you on what you're saying, even though it wouldn't work the same for me, if you know it helps you then that's all that matters.

I just meant because people always talk **** about gloves (not you specifically), when they use all these other things for support, so I said it like that because, everyone is uses some support so it would be illogical from someone to use a belt and call someone a p**sy for using gloves, or can alcoholic calling a heroin addict worthless. but w3rd bro!
