Trying to find a way to run regularly with runners knees. I’ve typically been a 10 mile a week at least guy to supplement weight lifting for the past 20 years, but running as a beefy guy has wrecked my knees.

After 2 off weeks 3.5 miles felt pretty good today. Tore my meniscus running 13.1 in 2015 (never walked after though it was the 4th mile - adrenaline is a helluva drug) and it’s kind of been slowly down hill since.

Hoping I can get back to running at least twice weekly here soon…easing my way back

I'm doing my first half marathon coming up here shortly, and I've pretty well given up on weight training at this stage. I'll hit bench and pullups twice a week to maintain upper body, and do some light deadlifts / squats once a week, but any more than that I've found impacts my run workouts too much to be worth it. Good on you bro if you can maintain a good base of strength and hit a 1:30 half (I'm aiming for 1:45 in mine).
A lot of it is for injury prevention as far as legs go. I had a left vmo quad injury last Feb., took awhile to heal from that. I'll usually do legs a day after a long run on Sunday. I've been lazy about core in the past so I'm focusing on that with some chest and back sprinkled in. Fitness is coming back around with easy paces hovering around 8:30 with weekly mileage around 35-50 miles. Current half pr is 1:37 and full is 3:34, though I wasn't able to race a lot last year due to injury.
I never try anything I just do it!

After tearing my right meniscus 18 months ago, its been feeling pretty good. Then 6 months ago I did my left as well. Been a ****show since. Trying to recover and build leg muscles back to cope. Really dont want to go down the surgery path.

It never hurts to do some slant board squats or single leg holds on the slant board until you can hold it for longer periods.

Im doing my third half marathon at the end of April.

Still running a few times a week, but adding in several leg workouts per week now so my legs are always mush.

Crazy that it's almost Feb and were in the 30s for the LOW. Normally we would be negative temps.

Took advantage of that and did first set of intervals of the year.

If you have the funds you can get the Normatec recovery boots or go on Amazon and get a knock-off brand. That's what I did.

Sup all, I started this thread years ago, glad to see it's still going strong years on. I'm still on my cardio game.

Running with a Garmin venu 1 and love it. Bought it during lockdown and it's served me fantastically.

Always run solo. The groups that do group runs around here seem really douchey. Besides, I always seen hotties running solo.

Timely thread bump. Must be the higher powers telling me something.

I had the most dreadful day this past Saturday. About .7 miles into my third half marathon I got swallowed up by a recessed manhole cover in the street and totally borked my knee up. (I swear this mother fker was 5-6" below the knobby street level) I tore the ACL in this particular knee for a second time about 4 years ago and never got it repaired so it's sucpetible to injury as it is. I limped off the course, tried to compose myself, and limped the remainder of the way and completed the 6.55 quarter marathon route instead.

In the process I torqued my Achilles up on the other side from running weird, with a strange gait & stride, now Im in a real pickle.

I feel like a complete and total failure. All my family was there waiting to cheer me on at the end, I had a great training cycle and was really looking forward to getting that 13.1 medal at the end, not the lame 6.55.

This one is going to sting for a while, mentally I am fuked over this.

any shoes that are stylish too? these hokas look too absurd nowadays, the sole is 5 inches high and look like astronaut shoes now.
I've tried witching to flat soles and barefoot running but beside the nice Wide toe box, my left ankle is fuked now.
Going to go back to lunarglides or try some Astra shoes.

The most important thing is to make sure you're fully healed before hoping going back to training and SERIOUSLY messing something up

Always run solo. The groups that do group runs around here seem really douchey. Besides, I always seen hotties running solo.
Yeah it is full of young 20s professionals on their dating game. I went to one for a few times and actually hooked up with an Irish girl so I'm also as bad 😔

Not gonna lie, I saw a group on IG and wanted to join because the girls actually looked decent but what are the odds that youre the only one trying to pick women up like that
Also, after runs I tend to smell horrible and well that doesnt help if youre trying to game some of these girls

I know what you mean, it's good to meet people who are disciplined when dating apps are full of fat bitches with kids.

With the weather getting better in the UK, I'm interested to join one and see if I can find my 👑
