    Feels good to be back in the competition again. It's nice to see some familiar faces!

    Question for y'all: In your opinion, what is the best way to handle it when someone is totally hogging equipment at the gym?

    There's only one cable set-up at my gym, and it never fails that when I went to use it, someone using it for their entire workout (45-1 hour). Last night, two teenagers were taking turns in there, but spending the majority of the time flexing in the mirror between sets (no joke!). They didn't seem too serious about what they were doing, so I finally went over and politely asked how many more sets they had. I don't want to hog the machine. I just want to use it. I also don't want to work on one side, while some dude works on the other. I like to do cable curls sometimes, you know?

    So, what is the proper gym etiquette in this situation? Is it rude to ask someone if you can jump in (especially when it takes longer because you're setting the cable up high and they have it all the way down to the floor for rows, etc. and/or you want to use both sides of the equipment)? And how long is too long for someone to expect to have complete control of a machine?

    I think if you ask to work in a majority of people will say yes, it's much better than just stealing the equipment while they are flexing

    i've had a few guys steal benches when i walked away to get some water. didn't matter that my waterbottle and workout book were sitting right there. i usually just grab my **** and go to a different area of the gym because if i say anything i might get banned from the gym

    There's only one cable set-up at my gym, and it never fails that when I went to use it, someone using it for their entire workout (45-1 hour). Last night, two teenagers were taking turns in there, but spending the majority of the time flexing in the mirror between sets (no joke!). They didn't seem too serious about what they were doing, so I finally went over and politely asked how many more sets they had. I don't want to hog the machine. I just want to use it. I also don't want to work on one side, while some dude works on the other. I like to do cable curls sometimes, you know?

    So, what is the proper gym etiquette in this situation? Is it rude to ask someone if you can jump in (especially when it takes longer because you're setting the cable up high and they have it all the way down to the floor for rows, etc. and/or you want to use both sides of the equipment)? And how long is too long for someone to expect to have complete control of a machine?
    What type of gym are you going to and at what time? Trainers should have the presence of mind to pay attention to what they are doing. If the gym is busy and they have to go through a lengthy workout on that piece (maybe b/c of fst7, high volume, whatever) then they should get in and be done. Otherwise they should have no issue with letting you work in. Otherwise, get off the piece in a reasonble amount of reps. Who spends 45 mins in the tower anyway? And you said they were mostly flexing? Guess they dont have mirrors at home. The gym is for pushing weight....... Obviously a bunch of tools.

    Consider a new gym or politely (but firmly) ask to work in.

    If your pictures do not follow the rules I have stated, they will NOT be accepted!


    PICTURE RULES

    -The item you are using to show the date MUST appear in ALL MANDATORY pictures.
    -NO links to your pictures. They must show up in your post.
    -The front, side, and back pictures MUST be in the relaxed position.
    -The 2 optional pictures can be any pose you want to use.
    -If the date cannot be seen on the item you are using, you MUST take a close up picture with the date visible.
    -There should be a MAXIMUM of 6 pictures in your post (including the close up of the date).

    NO EXCEPTIONS wil be made!
