Wink Nimbus Nutrition SWELL....THE stim free Pre-Workout Supplement.

For those looking for a Stim Free Pre-Workout...Look no longer!

    Nimbus Nutrition's SWELL

Swell is a product that leverages the success of one of Nimbus earlier products Poseidon. There are numerous articles as well as informal studies that attest to the hydration and general well being enhancement that comes with the use of Poseidon. The additional ingredients that make up the Swell PE Release Matrix are Beta-Alanine, Citrulline Malate, L-Leucine and Arginine-Alpha-Ketoglutarate. This article will outline what the value of those ingredients is to you and your workout routine.

Beta Alanine is the rate-limiting precursor of carnosine, carnosine levels are limited by the amount of beta alanine available. Beta alanine supplementation has been shown to lead to significantly increased levels of carnosine in skeletal muscles 3,4 . Heightened carnosine levels have been shown to contribute to the ph buffering of skeletal muscles1 which allows for greater performance due to an increased tolerance for lactic acid buildup. Most studies have been conducted with multiple dosing throughout the day of beta alanine, for a total of somewhere from 3-6g daily over the span of 4 weeks or longer to reach maximum effective levels. There is some belief that as with creatine that an initial loading phase will allow for a lower doseage later to maintain levels, however no formal studies have been conducted to show this as of yet.

Citrulline Malate can be viewed as being the "Creatine of cardio". Where creatine's primary values come from increased strength and muscle size, one of citrulline malate's value points comes from increased aerobic energy production6. It also performs a similar activity to beta alanine in that it helps limit the increase in muscle fatigue, and helps maintain a buffering against lactic acid7,8,9. This makes citrulline malate a very effective ingredient as it offers both a defense against fatigue, as well as offering up additional energy to be able to complete the activity in the first place.

L-Leucine is an essential BCAA that is broken down in fat structures. It is not capable of being created in the body from other components, and so all content must come from external food sources. It is possibly the most interesting of the amino acids in a number of ways. For one, it is limiting similar to beta alanine ? you must have at least 2 parts of l-leucine for every 2 parts of l-valine and 1 part of l-isoleucine. Regardless of how much l-valine or l-isoleucine you take in, without the l-leucine it will go unused. Also l-leucine is potentially has direct anabolic effects of its own10 and overall in conjunction with the other BCAAs is the largest component in overall protein synthesis11

Arginine-Alpha-Ketoglutarate has a number of positive values in terms of strength and muscle building as well. One of the primary effects it is known for is nitric oxide based pumps caused from blood vessel dialation. The more blood that reaches a muscle will carry more nutrients for energy during workout, as well as repair after a workout. Also found in studies was that AAKG has a measurable effect on overall strength in already conditioned athletes, showing a noticeable increase in strength over the span of supplementation13.

The sum of the parts is often greater than the value of each of the parts separately. By the inclusion of the specific proven performance enhancing ingredients within Swell in addition to the well proven hydration and overall recovery value of the Poseidon complex, Nimbus Nutrition has helped bring a non- stimulant pre-workout drink mix that will increase performance during strength training, reduce rest time between sets, and aid in recovery after training. Particularly with the lack of stimulants, Swell is a drink mix that can easily be used in conjunction with workouts at any time of the day, even near bedtimes.
