I was dragging all day today. I was able to get about 3 hours of sleep last night and I was not looking forward to training at all today. Not feeling like training is usually the preclude to a great training session and today was no exception. The pump was crazy and I moved some more weight on the deads....with 90 second rest periods. I dropped all other rest periods to 60 seconds. I finished off with about 10-15 minutes of stretching per Derek's recommendation. He says that not stretching enough is the reason for my back stiffness on my upper power day. Great training. Hit a discount commercial gym that was packed with people who love to remind me why I do not like discount commercial gyms. It was tough to get a workout in when I had people coming up to me talking all the time. I tried not to be rude, but between my friend I trained (300 lb former college lineman who used my bench weight for a warmup) with and myself, we were questioned between every set. Put this down as one of my best days to date. I hit my old gym on the way down South (Tennessee). They have an angled smith as opposed to my usual vertical one. This allowed for an awesome movement. It was sweet. After being one upped in all lifts yesterday, I was able to get past my training partner today. It felt great....until my crazy long drive to Tennessee. Love me some leg day. Although my buddy told me he wouldn't train legs with me again. He said I work too hard....and he was not a fan of the PWO cardio (honestly, neither was I).
I don't really know. Yes the weight is going up, but I am not sure about the strength increasing. I was using a different smith machine, which had an angle. This seemed to hit my groove a little more. Also, I am still in the process of regaining my confidence in my surgically repaired knee. I am getting stronger, but I think that there is more too it than gaining muscle because I shouldn't be doing that now.
