completely disagree
there is no food substance that will burn fat more rapidly. calories is all that matters
eating 1700 a day clean vs. eating 1700 a day dirty, as long as you hit your protein macro's, your FAT loss would be exactly the same
WEIGHT loss however would be different, since junk food like mcdonalds is loaded with sodium, so water retention, ect.
calories in = calories outVegan

i don't understand what point you are trying to make. i'm not arguing that you can meet your protein macro's on mcdonalds alone and still meet your calorie limit, that would be hard. i'm saying as long as you eat your lbm in protein every day, you can fill in your calories however you want

so a can of tuna is 300 calories and 65 grams of protein.
so a person can just eat about 750 calories worth of tuna for 150 grams of protein, and then fill the rest of calorie needs with complete crap food (soda, ice cream, presevatives) and he will still be a healthy person, losing fat, gaining muscle etc?
Sounds nice but hard to believe.

yup, its absolutely true.
i'm not advocating eating junk food. i dont eat junk food. i'm simply saying, if one day, after eating that tuna, you want to treat yourself to a big mac, instead of eggs / salad / whatever clean food you were gonna eat, you can. and as long as you stay within your calories you will lose the same amount of fat as if you had just eaten your clean food.Vegan

He's answering your question in terms of fat loss, saying that as long as you eat your required amount of protein, you will still lose fat, non-dependant on the food type (as long as it's cals out > cals in).
You didn't specify a goal in your OP, so 1/ being healthy, 2/ losing fat or 3/ gaining muscle are three different goals, with multiple answers to your original question. Choose 1, 2 or all 3 of those goals and you'll receive different answers.

if you stick to a simple rule like that, yes it is simply cals in vs cals out.
but when you factor in protein, which is essential to muscle growth/retention, you will not get remotely close to your daily protein intake eating mcdonalds and staying under 1700 cals.
i would like u to find me a mcdonalds diet that gets you at the bare minimum of 150g protein while staying under 1700 cals

i was actually defending you but... anyways...
i do think calories in vs calories out sums up weight loss BUT i also think there are factors like sodium intake, water intake, and protein intake that all substantially play a role when it comes down to maintaining muscle and the effects of retaining water.

You're not going to get one answer.. Everyone is sorta mixed with this.. I do know, that when I eat junk, like Mc Donalds.. I feel like crap.. but when I eat a healthy meal, such as fish with steamed broccoli or asparagus.. etc... I feel more energy and I don't have that "ick" feeling..

Check out how to lose the Fat for Noobs sticky at the top of the forum for those of you disagreeing on the whole fast food thing. Wave_Length made sure he hit his protein everyday and was still eating out at buffet's and burger king almost everyday. Granted it was one giant meal a day but I wouldn't call it "clean" and you can see he had good results.
That having been said my energy feels up when I eat clean, and I still get hungry when I try to only eat one meal and stuff myself. Really OP it is a "to each his own" theory but we're all going to agree that keeping the protein up is priority number one in any diet.Currently: Cutting

This. No more, no less. Seriously, i kind of figured it out some time ago. If, for example, a bigmac is going to provide you 20g of protein for 500 calories, let's say, a chicken breast is going to provide 100g for the same 500kcal. That's the deal, for the same amount of calories, you get more nutrients of some kind you need, including vitamins etc.
