Hi everyone. I'm going to start keto this coming sunday. This is part of a new workout/nutrition plan I've had going for the past month. Well, a few weeks ago, I was offered a business trip to work a party at Talladega. I leave next Thursday. By that time, I should be pretty deep in ketosis. My question is this: how bad is the bad breath? Its gonna be hard to keep to the diet while traveling and at the party but I really want to stay on it. But I do NOT want it to be a problem because this is an important trip. I don't want the bad breath to be a hindrance to the networking and schmoozing. And if it is pretty bad, is there a way to cover it? Gums and mints have sugars and sugar alcohols so I'm not sure those are the way to go. Any help would be appreciated!

A couple pieces of gum/mints won't kick you out...you'll be fine. Just don't chew the whole pack.
Also, keep drinking water.Contest Prep Log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=146273283&p=911273403&posted=1#post911273403

The Keto breath is slightly fruity smelling. It's not nasty, just different. Nothing like someone with garlic breath or a hangover.
Most people only notice the keto breath at the beginning, and as Jaime said, drinking lots of water and eating your green veg helps too.
You can buy little sugar-free breath mints if you are worrying about it.65% fat, 30% protein, 5% carbs = keto.

Nother question
Ok, another question. I started keto today and after a really exhausting depletion workout and a dialed-in diet, I'm wondering if I'm already in ketosis. I have a weird taste/smell/something going on. I don't have any keto strips so I can't be for sure. Is it possible to get into it that fast?

My diet the past 29 years was very carb heavy. But especially the last two weeks. I have been peeing a lot but I've been drinking a lot of water too.
Another question: If my total carbs for the day came out to 37g but 11g was fiber, does that mean my total carbs was only 27g? I think thats true but not sure. I think I need to get some fiber pills or something cuz 11g is not gonna cut itHappiness is a hot PB&J sandwich

Yes, you can subtract the fibre. Eat lots of green veg and don't worry about it. On keto, you are not trying to shift lots of crap from your bowels, you don't need as much fibre as on a carb based diet. Green veg is one of the best sources of fibre anyway. Only take fibre supps if you really really need them.
