Rlundregan, enjoy the new home!
hulked, jackbravo - Sorry, we could've had three York avatars in a row but some wanker had to post before I got here! Lol.You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

Just been busy, following the BS gun control stuff, and helping my Dad fix a few cars so he can sell them to keep his house (again). I think it would be easier on me to just move him into my basement, and probably cheaper too. I've been going to his place a few times a week to help him, he's not feeling very good these days.
I went to a hockey tournament in Chicago last weekend, my son's team won the championship and were undefeated in the 5 games. They haven't played that well in a while, hope they can keep it rolling for their division playoffs. We didn't have much time to do anything but watch hockey, so I told my other kids we'd get back there soon so they can do some "fun" stuff."If there must be trouble let it be in my day, that my child may have peace." -Thomas Paine

I'm sorry to hear about your father. We are also thinking about moving a relative closer to us, to include with us. One day our children (yours and mine) may have to take care of us. The iron gives us some protection from that day.

Despite all the noise being made, I don't think any significant gun control legislation will be enacted. It certainly won't get through the Republican controlled house, but I doubt that much could happen in the senate either, even if changes are made to the filibuster rules.

Thanks- it sucks for sure. My dad is only 60, too young to need so much help. Most of his needs are financial though, including not going to the doctor. I've tried everything short of throwing him over my shoulder and making him go.
I doubt it too, maybe the background check on private sales. I don't see an AWB, and I thing the magazine restriction will be a stretch- at least I hope."If there must be trouble let it be in my day, that my child may have peace." -Thomas Paine

Below are photos from last Saturday's hike of the Butcher Jones Trail which follows some of the shoreline of Saguaro Lake.
A view of the Flatiron in the Superstitions framed by canyon walls of the lake:
My son hikes ahead of me near sunset:
I liked the color of the sky in this shot of the desert at sunset:
Fishing after sunset:
I got this shot from the beach just before we left.

KB - Nice pics. Prime lens? The light/contrast caught in difficult dusk setting, would have me guessing fixed lens, but could be wrong.
Animal - Sorry to hear about your dad. There are issues with my father-in-law who lives 2000+ miles away that my wife has been handling, including schedules/nurses/paying bills/etc. A bit tough, but many things in life are.[]---[] Equipment Crew #40 []---[]

Yep. I used the 35mm lens for all photos except the second. On that one, I used the Sigma 50-500 at 100mm. I did some tone mapping on that second photo too to bring out detail in the canyon walls. I want to go back sometime in the morning and try that shot again. I tried to get some close-up shots of boats with that lens, but I had forgotten to adjust the ISO and aperture prior to taking them. The boats all ended up blurry. I'm still learning.
The fishing boat shot was f/5 at 1/60 sec, ISO 500. The last one was f/2.2 at 1/60sec, ISO 200.
The shots at sunset / dusk were easier to process than the ones from earlier in the hike. I'm also happier with those later shots. (I like the fishing boat photo too.)▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #35

I think the lens choices worked out. If you look at the water in the 2nd pic, let me know what you think how it looks? I like the look of the canyon/shadows, but the water seems to have been smoothed out a bit, as well as not having defined edges on the canyon. at f/5 ISO 500 was that the only shot in that look. Pretty still shot. I like the evolution of your pics/viewpoints/perspectives since you started posting pics.

That second photo was ISO 100, f/18, 1/4 sec on a tripod. The smoothness of the water may be due to the longer exposure time, though I still see some detail in the water when viewed at full size (6024x4024). I also combined multiple exposures; there may have been a smoothing effect when I blended the water from one exposure with another. It's possible too that scaling the photo and JPEG compression had something to do with the way the water looks. Some of those factors, the exposure time, and the blending are under my control though, so I'll have to keep this in mind for future photos where water is involved. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
I was more focused on the canyon walls when I was editing it - I had a heck of a time figuring out what color temperature to use. I even took the lens outside my house and took some shots of a color calibration card in the shade in the hope that I could figure out a white balance for that lens in the shade. The problem is, I think the color temperature will depend on the amount of shade and what else is around that reflects light. I doubt that I got it right since the shade at my house is undoubtedly different from that of the canyon wall. I've been struggling with this a lot lately.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #35

My thoughts exactly. If I am the buyer, I will ask about the condition then ask if the price is negotiable. Then after I asses the condition in person I will make an offer according to the condition & how cheap I feel I can get them down on the price. If I am the seller, same protocol as Wildtim. If I haven't had much interest or I just want to move it quick then I will offer entertain lower offers over email.

After all of the luck that you had early on, I'm glad that you got the 9mm.
I agree with this statement, and I'm fairly sure that the background checks system will change. Hopefully it ends there and we can get back to normal.
Finally, I lived with my Dad every day until he passed at 82. My Mom passed when I was in my 20's, and we became roomates for years, splitting bills. Then when I got married, my wife understood that my Dad (then 75 years old) was part of the package, lol. Hanging out with my Dad was definitely the best part of my life.
One day you'll look back on the time that you spent working on cars with your Dad, and the memories will all be good. Hopefully he egts in a better sort of way soon, so that your kids can spend alot of quality time with him. Good luck with him bro'."Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do, than by the ones you did" Mark Twain

Well, went and picked up my new rifle, range was closed for a CCW class. Then a buddy of mine showed pics on ******** that they were there shooting- guess I should have asked instead of reading the sign...

Has the bb.com website been hacked? The login box on the right is showing when I come to the site, and it won't recognize my login info, but when I go to a page I'm logged in and can comment, as I am now. . . .
