I'm new to the hook grip, having used it for two months, and after watching a video on Youtube by George Leeman's girlfriend I switched from the left example to the right. The improvement for me was huge, both in gripping power and pain reduction. I have a 7.25" hand. I no longer have to tape my thumbs as well.

I feel like I'm kind of in the middle of the left and right in the pic that was posted. I've hooked on deadlift bars, Texas Power bars, and a Rogue Ohio Bar at my last meet. The Rogue bar was 29mm and I had no trouble at all hooking on it.
I've trained on my Okie deadlift bar at home the last two weeks and I believe it's 27mm and my thumbs actually seem to hurt worse hooking on that thing compared to the thicker bar. Maybe it's because I'm getting more of my thumb under my fingers.1708 total @220 Raw
Improve my total every time I step on the platform.

Photo in Avi is not current, I'm way fatter now.

When you hook grip, it's not entirely about getting as much of your thumb under your first two fingers as possible. Obviously that helps, but even with small hands you can make it work. Make sure you turn your knuckles down toward the floor (slight wrist curl) and use your thumb as a wedge to prevent the bar from rolling. Even the tiniest girls that I coach are able to hook effectively.

Anyone else experience pain with DB OHP, but not just presses with a bar?
Benching with DBs is fine, as is benching with a bar.
Any ideas why that might be?YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/NorthStrongSC

it's amazing how bad some of these companies are. Like I can't fathom running a company and selling a product that doesn't ship for over a month.
that's one thing I have to give Bell credit for. I've ordered a few things from HMYB and it's always in my mailbox in like 2 days and I'm not near CALog -> http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=153108621

I do actually have them in quite close, even with a "hammer" grip (palms facing) I still experience the pain. Just kinda weird.
tru tru
Yes, completely agree.
Wish Siders was still around lifting competitively. Watching him bench 600 like an empty bar never ceases to impress me.YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/NorthStrongSC

Was training with some Worlds level athletes last week, they brought up the fact that Kelly Branton went from like a 340 singleply squat 3ish years ago to a 400+ raw squat now.

Who ever said load up my CAP and show the end results pics coming soon.
POS barbell isn't worthy of being a beater bar! I should have listened at the start about buy now or later. I've had it for only 5 months. 585 max on it (reverse deads even) and uneven grip trying to dead.
1500. Lol
