Agree. For some reason people seem to equate being prepared to being a basement dwelling retard as opposed to just being prepared. I'm guessing it's the same type of people who run out of gas on the freeway after failing to realize they should fill up before going on a trip.

They are on line at a grocery store the day before a blizzard comes in, at Home Depot the day before a hurricane comes in, etc, etc

Last hurricane season in FL, I didn't need jack chit. I saw the massive lines at Home Depot. A lady shot some dude over a generator I saw on the news. If we'd been told there was a mandatory evac (very unlikely where we were but again, mother nature gonna mother nature) I'd have been able to go GF and dog (of course I'd identified the dog friendly locations!), it would have been a matter of grabbing my BOB.

I remember well seeing the idiots fighting over a gallon of milk when I was in the NE and a major blizzard coming in.

I guess you are unaware of various items that are transported around the country by truck or rail car, and are also completely unaware that an area could be evacuated as a result of a spill/accident/crash/release of a dangerous material. Just one of many possibilities.

I personally know someone who thought he could ride it out in his house as no storm before had been an issue, and when the water got to high, he grabbed his bag and shot gun and hiked his way out of the city. He spent one night on the road, and next day made it to his friends place out of the city. He had what he needed not make an already chit experience a lot worse.

He was able to avoid going anywhere near the bedlam that was the shelters etc, where all the "I can't imagine I'd ever need anything beyond the corner store" types went nuts. He also had some great advice on what had been good to have, and what he'd had i his BOB that he didn't need, and a few few things he's wished he'd had.

It's like they already forgot the gas shortage in Florida and hours on hours of traffic on the highways due to everyone evacuating at the same time. I'm in LA and normal traffic alone sometimes take 2h to drive 25 miles. God forbids we actually got 24h advance notice for some sort of disaster or attack. Probably easier to bike until you get to the mountains than to get stuck in traffic driving 5 mph out of here.

Most people don't have the sense of personal responsibility for this, they would rather pretend it won't happen, plan to take from others to get by if it does, or expect big daddy government to do it all for them (which is just another way of taking from others)

Hopefully if something natural, meteorological or whatever happens we will have on less dip chit in this world to worry about. If you have kids do you take spare diapers/wipes in the car or do you just expect your 2-3 yr old to hold it until you finish the 6 hour drive. You're a fuking idiot, we are using random variables it's a bag if anything out of the ordinary happens and no way is it being a prepper it's called be ready. When was the last time you checked the donut in your trunk I say donut as I know you don't have a full tire in there as you're against prepping for unlikely scenarios.

Oh I dunno considering under my username it says “HUNT, FISH, RIDE” I’d imagine I’d grab my 9mm, compression sleeping bag, a hunting knife, etc...then hop on my quad and ride while wearing a gas mask. Obviously avoiding all major roadways because of the toxic spills. Then I’d duck into an underground cave to avoid the EMP Blast and ensure my electronics worked properly. From there I’d probably head out into the wilderness on my own making sure to have extra socks.

I was just laughing because it's actually useful and not something anyone would think to have. I haven't transcended to the level of "prepper" to attempt to run out of LA yet (though I can run for 10 miles without stopping so I'm sure that would help if it comes to it), and even I have decent hiking shoes and steel toed shoes just in case.

they frac a ton in that area, I used to do it. Small mountain towns have definitely been given notice that an issue had happened. Nothing as crazy as an earthquake, but man made **** definitely can happen.

much like all the people who say you dont need to carry a gun because youve carried one and never used it for 30 years... well I believe in theres that ONE day/minute/event in your life when you will need something and dont have it which is the difference between you living or you dying, Id rather have a gun on my hip or a bag in my trunk all the other days I dont need it.

Your life is your own responsibility, how protective you are of it is your own business, but when that one day/minute happens, dont expect someone else will or can bail you out, sometimes in life you are just on your own.
