I'm with Thad on the pulling against bands. I'm not crazy explosive, but I do feel like my pulls come up fairly quickly all the way up to 90% or more. So bands definitely helped me out.

The strength is there for pulling in the mid 5's.

Speed work, not really, but I will pull against bands (maybe....nay....hopefully chains) and then hit backdown sets with the intention of them flying up. So pulling against contrast and then straight weight "speed" sets. This worked very well for my pressing, so we shall see what it does for pulling. Also, I need to build my pulling platform so I have attachment points.
    I totally get it

Eye bolts with spring clamps FTW. I got lucky and just had to unscrew the allen screws in my half-platform and replace them with eyebolts.

this never really crossed my mind when I did mine. I guess in hindsight I could have just altered the platform to actually hold the bands.....

I drilled mega bolts into the basement floor

    Awesome

And I'm just really coming in to second what everyone else has said re: the pull. Don't beat yourself up over it, looks pretty solid, and just get after some more poundage.

The bands teach you to pull fast. If you don't, you don't complete the lift. I will use them, but not in the typical Westside 6x2@70%+150 lbs of bands setup.

I have these 2"x2"x1/4" steel unistrut brackets that I will mount to the platform and they would have a 1/2" bolt that would be inserted between them to hold the bands. Not sure yet, but I think that is how I will do it.

I have a hard time envisioning the eye bolt/spring clamp setup.

Nice! I was also thinking of bolting angle steel to the garage slab....but it is a rental.

So....I ordered a few things from EFS that I am pretty excited about.

    First is these:
    http://www.flexcart.com/members/elit...d=479&pid=4540

I figure they will work better than my spring clamps for use on the axle. I ordered two pair so I can use them on farmer's implements once I get them.

    Second is:
    http://www.flexcart.com/members/elit...id=155&pid=190

I realized that I do not have one of these for some reason. Intent is to have it for sled pulls, but may get into some chins with it at some point.

Then of course just stocked up on chalk and ammonia caps.

Will do. I didn't really want to spend the money, but they were 20% off, so I pulled the trigger finally.

My ghetto collars are 2" sections off an axle with a hole drilled and a nut welded inside the hole. Then I just tighten down on the bolt that fits the nut. Pretty sure I coulda got you 4 of those for pretty cheap. (read..nudez)

I was going to make something like that. I like the ease of tool free tightening.

I can barely operate a key in a door lock, let alone hold two pieces of metal together to weld them.

I think you should lift the weight faster. I believe in you. Stop thinking about it while you're doing it, it almost looks like you're thinking about positions and stuff during the pull, don't do it at that point, you can analyze and critique after the pull and even during the set up, but when it's time to do it clear your head, trust your form and go. You're lifting for SM not doing a thesis on biomechanics. Your form is good and not your limiting factor (leave that to me). Congrats on the PR. Now go get more.

^I think Dustin pretty much nailed it. I know the last time you pulled at my house, we talked about how much time you spent at the bar before you pulled. Get a quick pre lift routine down, trust it, and just phukkin pull.

    Accessory Work

    Axle Bench Press

    225 x 5 (3 sets)

*Pretty easy, didn't really push it too much here.

    Band Assisted Pullups
    *Light Band

    5 sets of 10

    *Getting better at these.

    Squats

    315 x 5 (3 sets)

*Actually felt really good. I wasn't sure how these would turn out as my back and posterior chain were a bit tender from pulling on Tuesday. 275 felt good, so I moved up the working weight from my original plan.

    Snatch Grip Sumo RDL

    315 x 6 (3 sets)

*Holy crap these are different than standard grip. Should have nice carry over to stones.

This was a quick session as I had to go to dinner with a coworker to celebrate his last day. Free food for a backload....I will take it! No video though as my iPod was dead and used the camera for music. Nothing really vid worthy anyways. Events on Saturday.
