i think $1.5/# is too high for the OMEZS, but the Icarian super bench seems decent for $250...though i wish the pads were the same color

IMO, that huge horseshoe-shaped front foot is more of a hindrance than anything else unless you're going to use the leg extension attachment. It's one of my biggest complaints about the 70/71, along with the height.
So much potential, but those two flaws just ruin an extremely solid bench."What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

I'm thinking about offering this guy $200-$240 for these 5-70 lb PowerBlock dumbbells. It looks like they are $497 after shipping on the website.

http://www.powerblock.com/prod_homeuse_elite5-70.php
Thoughts on how much they are probably worth? They are only a few months old.
I can get used dumbbells locally for $0.59/lb so it would cost me $614 in dumbbells for the same weight. The expansion kit to take them from 70's to 90's is $129 +$29 shipping. The additional dumbbells to go from 70 to 90 would cost $390. It seems like a pretty good deal if he comes down into the mid 200's or something with them.
Thanks,

good luck getting the guy to take half his asking price. It may not be worth it to you but i'd be curious to see if the guy would take that hit. not saying his asking price is fair...for that much i'd just pony up the extra $50 and buy new.

A bench comes with it at his asking price, so I was hoping to get him down to that level for just the dumbbells. They have been for sale for 23 days, so he might bite.
I'm not sure what they are worth used, but I figure half of new is reasonable for used gym equipment, but then he just bought them so might want more.

which bench? might be able to sell it for a good price to offset the cost.
powerblocks seem to age well and they reportedly have excellent customer service. the only thing you risk by lowballing is for the seller to ignore you. then again they might already be sold and the seller just hasn't pulled the listing. call him up and seeDomicron's Basement Gym and Fun House

Didn't mean for it to come off that way. Just figured a bottom line up front makes it easier, especially for mobile uses.
My last couple posts have been CL ads, mainly because I feel it's one way I can contribute to the group, and because I'm overseas for work and buying is out of the option for me.

just my opinion, but id stay away from those elite powerblocks. they are the clunkiest thing PB ever made...look at the big gaps on those. wait and/or save for the urethane models or even the older pro models. around here id have to go down to $325-$350 to sell 5-70 elites. if the bench they are sitting on is the included bench, it has no real value, so i doubt its exclusion would entice him to lower his price much.

Thanks for the info. I know some people don't like them, and others do. I have never tried them. I didn't know their was quality differences across the different models. He replied that they were for sale, but never replied back after I offered him $220, so I guess it doesn't matter. Thanks again for the advice.

OSU is a good guy, but even I would let those sit for a few months and wait for him to drop the price down into the $250-$350 range. They look BEAUTIFUL though, would match the color scheme of my gym nicely
Good deal here on a beefy leg press, $250 but it would be a bish to move.

OSUdimond does have some decent stuff though from time-to-time, really this isn't that bad a deal either. Legend rack and 3103 for $1k, or even the bench itself at $300 is a fair deal on a commercial bench like that.

Ha. I always use a few tags at the end, but I try to keep them related, at least, to what I'm selling.
