we're not hating on it, just saying it wasn't that amazing.

I wouldn't call it amazing either that falls under The Black Halo and Epica but it's still a solid album nonetheless. I think they went back to the basic formula similar to Karma than anything.
But they have a new one coming out can't wait for it."The road to salvation is through Christ"
Luke 1:74
to rescue us from the hand of our enemies, and to enable us to serve him without fear
^Love is the power of the righteousness life that overcomes the fear that leads to sin, and the life in which God is pleased.

Lol I know, I actually saw someone else calling it melodic metal and thought that was the best description without having to make things too difficult

I've tried and tried, but nothing touches my soul like Meshuggah.
Gojira is getting there, though."Nilbog! It's goblin spelled backwards! This is their kingdom!"

Some old skool Morbid Angel... Several years ago, at a friend's house, we listened to this song while on acid. That underwater effect on the vocals was tripping me out and I looked over at my friend and he started turning greenish/blue and watery lol... Kinda scary, but pretty awesome.
There's definitely a psychedelic quality to this song.

Extreme Metal tends to be a mantle taken up by metal bands who don't like be classified as one specific sub genre of metal.
Most notable band who describes themselves as "extreme metal" would be Cradle of Filth, and that is for the exact reason that they don't want to be classified (especially under the Black Metal category).
Now as for melodic metal. Yes that is a real sub genre.
Melodic Death Metal would probably be the most common.
It is just a sub genre that includes bands with (you guessed it) melodic vocals, or a mixture of melodic and harsh.
Deadlock and Cynic would be good examples of Melodic Death Metal.I am Broseidon! King of the Brocean!

no **** melodic death metal is a real genre, that doesn't mean melodic metal is a real term. it has no meaning whatsoever. i've heard of melodic power metal, melodic black metal, death metal, thrash metal, metalcore, all that ****. it has no meaning whatsoever beyond to denote a difference WITHIN an existing genre, and even then unless its death or black metal its retarded.
I want to touch the butt.

...how was i freaking out? i always talk like that.
and no it's not a real genre...wtf? melodic death and melodic black metal are real genres. "melodic metal" isn't. it tells you absolutely nothing whatsoever. cannibal corpse has melodies. suffocation have songs with lots of melodies. behemoth have some melodic solos.I want to touch the butt.
