All I see is we got another veteran player (38 yrs old) on the downswing of his career (last season and this one). Would much rather have Upton who is like 24. Not sure what the Dbacks were asking for him though.

we basically gave up nothing and fixed our biggest needs, speed and outfielders who can actually play defense

For everyone wondering about translators...guys like Ichiro and Matsui can speak English fine but in a formal setting they're just more comforable (understandably) in their native language. You see them talking with coaches and players all the time.

not gardner speed but ichiro is 15/17 in stolen bases this year so at least he can steal a few and he's a huge defensive upgrade over Ibanez in the outfield. the main thing is they don't want Ibanez/Jones play so much OF in the 2nd half because they don't want them to wear down before the playoffs, these guy were signed to DH and maybe play the OF one or twice a week and now Ibanez has been playing LF like every other day or more.
