Its yet another metric that can be used, and people are only using them when its convenient for their argument. For the metric I pulled up, it was simply death per confirmed case, which is a metric that matters as well. When it comes to death, people who are on the left will shy away from deaths per capita and deaths per confirmed case, because total deaths (not adjusted for population, which you said should be done for testing) is a more convenient number.

My point is that we've got all of this data available to us, and depending on the metric you choose you can paint a different picture. People are only pulling the metrics they want to fit their agenda, and disregarding others. If they stayed with that style of metric, it would be simple and straight forward. But people literally bounce back and forth, which is intellectually dishonest. We need all of the data, but we are not having complete discussions of what the data is actually saying.

It takes longer to get to more tests per capita when you have 350 million people compared to 5-50. The only 2 countries with somewhat bigger populations are Russia with 145 million, and Spain with 45 million and USA is quickly catching up to them in terms of per capita. The other countries currently ahead are either microcountries, islands, or a country of 5 million people like Denmark.

In terms of test, USA will have done more than twice tests than the next closest country Russia.

because it's relevant to understanding how data is analyzed and used to draw conclusions and make business decisions. there is no "one metric fits all" approach and even when analyzing the same problem you can look at both per capita numbers as well as raw numbers and other various analyses as there are learnings when looking at different slices and segments of the data.

if you were in a career where this kind of analysis was done like management consulting or business analysis or technology, etc - you would see the value of this sort of analysis.
if you're not in that kind of career you'll whine and complain about "changing to fit the narrative hurr durr" and just expose your lack of knowledge of the topic
