i imagine you showing up looking like you do in your avi...so it's surprising to hear that he let you into his house...
honestly though i still don't understand why people allow others to go into their homes and move equipment. when i picked up my ivanko haul i had to go down a flight of steps. most of it was plates, which is fine, but the dude let me move the barbell. one bad move and i could have done some serious damage to the stairs, the railing, any of a number of walls, the door, etc. and that's just a barbell that's knurled and, by design, easy to hold onto. with heavy equipment like that? no ****ing way.
i would have some friends help me move it into the garage before the buyer shows up, but that's as far into the house as i'm willing to go. props to you for suffering bodily harm to be courteous and decent; i couldn't trust someone i don't know to do the same.
right? i have mostly commercial grade equipment and custom built accessories for my rack and i think of my setup as merely average at best around this neck of the woods.
**** we need to have a car in our gym now too? **** how am i going to get one into my basement?

You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

I just wanted some change plates for my new shoulder press. But why get just some overpriced plates off eBay when you can get 295 pounds plus an extra 25, a York bar and some spin lock collars instead. Everything needs some tlc and one of the 45 has a bit more than surface rust. I'm at about 1000 pounds of Yorks.

Surprised I was not on spread with you. There was an a frame they tried to give me when I picked up the Yorks today. I said not thanks that was not listed in the ad. I get it, but they are not for me.

Not just getting them off the rack, but having to dig to get the plates I want. The rec center gym in my town has about a 50/50 mixture of vintage milled Yorks and newer cheap CAP plates. I often have to offload all of the CAPs to get to the buried Yorks. I always make a point to leave the CAPs buried at the back of the pile on the A-frames, yet somehow they manage to find their way to the front again when I return the next day. I dont even look anything like my avi anymore Dom. I buzzed my head, so now I look like a straight thug! BUT, Im a super nice guy, so once I start interacting, people love me!
And I actually had a pretty good back and forth with the owner of the home before I went up, so things were kinda cool by the time I went up there, and it was just by luck too that I got that thing.
I saw the ad when it was only a couple of hours old, and it was for free, he was wanting to give it away to a non-profit. I emailed him and asked if he would consider selling it, and he said yes, for 500 bucks. I was like "Holy Sh!t"! He said he needed it out of there by that Saturday because he had new equipment being delivered, and I told him Id be there for sure Thursday to get it. After I told him that, he deleted the ad, so no one else got a chance to snag it from me.
He sent me a text the next day saying he had the B-177 that he'll sell for 125 bucks, and I said "Sold"! It was all too easy, and then I got there and realized what I was in store for!
The guy wasnt even there, it was his wife that was there. At one point she said she had to go somewhere, and if she could trust me in their house. Based on the area they lived in and their property, Id assume they were pretty loaded and had cameras everywhere, not that I would have done anything otherwise. I was extremely careful not to harm anything, which of course made things more difficult. It sucked at the time, but now its a bit of a funny story.Last edited by a7stringkilla; 09-06-2017 at 04:29 PM.

I bought a Nautilus 2st pullover with 200lb stack today. Price was around tree-fiddy.
I had a chance to demo it, before having dismantle it to bring home. So no pictures. It wasn't assembled correctly, as it had a couple spare pulleys. The kevlar belts were frayed and the footbar was lost. No plastic side covers either. The frame and upholstery are in very good shape.
It doesn't take too much space, so I think it will be ideal for my gym. So it looks like a mini restoration project is in order.
This is the model:

There are a few different looking Schisler plates. Some with an old school Eagle design, some with both LB and KG markings, and others that generally look more plain and boring IMO. I had the plain Schilser, and I wouldn't consider them an upgrade from Fitness Gear necessarily, but for $0.50lb it's not a bad deal. The change plates may be marked 'Olympia' and were decent looking deep dish, the 45's had sharp edges that I had to grind down because you could almost shave with them LOL. Any pictures?
