Before that happen Silva knee'd Franklin mutiple times to the ribs (which I thought was ineffective until Franklin covered his ribs).
Right after Silva let go of the muay thai clinch you could see that Franklin was hurt and tired which was the turning point in the match. You could tell that Franklin will get KO'd or something because there was 2 or 3 minutes left in the first round.

caught him in a chin and he was dizzy, Silva went for the high kick Rick sort of blocked it and went for the clinch again and Silva knee'd him and Rich went down.

Silva must be the top striker in the world because Franklin is a whole another level compare to David Loiseau.
I've seen Silva vs Ryo Chonan in Pride and Silva wasn't that great in that his standup like compare to this match.

Silva is or was the champion in three different MMA organzations now.

he was a good champ though, i hope he gets another shot in the future and takes his belt back

Rich Franklin looked like he was high, drunk or hasn't slept in a week - he really looked spaced out tonight.

I'd assume broken/cracked ribs as well. He looked like he was really uncomfortable when he got out of the clinch the first time.

lol hes number 2 middle weight and i dont see anyone in the ufc right now other than silva that cause a threat so it will be intersting to see what happens in the middle weight now

And just a note on Sherk/Florian. Kenny should have all his fingers chopped off - it was a joke how many times he grabbed the fence. He even grabbed with two hands and held on to delay the huge slam near the end!

Rich just had a piss poor defense to the Muay Thai clinch. You can't expect to outclinch a guy who has been doing Muay Thai as long as Silva has.

Rich reminded me of Quinton Jackson, he looked defenseless in the clinch against a good Muay Thai fighter.

yep, this match legitimizes Anderson Silva and probably (PrideFC) if you want to go there. He is the top dog in the UFC for next 3 years or so now maybe.

Silva standup is a whole nother level, Franklin's standup is a whole another level to David Loiseau and Nate Quarry.
Mike Swick will fight Silva next and Swick will get destoryed likewise because in his fight vs David Loiseau he wasn't even that great.

Oh yeah a BJJ black belt under the Noguieras (the best ground game fighters in MMA)

BRING BACK MATT LINDLAND!!

Lindland vs. Silva was being talked about in Cage Rage in the UK but it never happened. IMO Lindland is one of the few at 185 who has a chance at Franklin or Silva.

I wanna see Franklin move back up to light-heavyweight.
Plus Hughes said he'd move up Franklin lost his belt to fight Silva. Silva would more then likely demolish hughes though.

he was drained from making weight i think rich needs to go up to 205 and he probally will...rich walks around 220 pounds.

Ken's grabbing of the fence wasn't all that bad or blantant until he did it when Sherk had him scooped up for a slam though, and even then Kenny eventually let go and Sherk planted him anyways. I think it's more of a reflex than blatantly breaking the rules... if someone is getting ready to dump you on your head and back, your first instinct is to grab onto something to stop it from happening.

That's a bogus excuse though. Rich's cardio was off the charts against David Louiseau. Rich just got beat up.... you're bound to look less active when someone is kneeing you in the ribs and face and basically using you for target practice. Rich looked absolutely helpless in the clinch.

I never saw any of Rich Franklin's fights before so I never saw him enter the ring. But tonight, Franklin entered the ring looking scared as s**t. Or is it just me?? When the bell rung, he looked as tough he didnt even want to fight the guy. Is it normal to not be able to escape a clintch? I never saw a thing like that, specially not for a champion. he was confused on what to do.

I say you can pretty much forget anybody else in this division to honestly challenge Silva. Theyd have to go to another division. The guy closest to this division who can beat Silva would be Georges St-Pierre.

probally overtraining...he probally peaked early in training...he needs to train safe instead of pushing to much i seen his training routine...im pretty sure he might of overtrained and peaked early in training.

He's been whooping ass in other shows, and his last UFC fight with Joe Doerkson was very good. He finished Jeremy Horn in the last show, something that is extremely difficult to do.

What overtraining? The fight didnt last long enough to have overtraining affect him. His midsection was red after just a few knees. Think how powerfull they were and each one would make it harder and harder to breath not to mention almost knock the wind out of him.

Who can now beat Silva?

I'd say get a top notch wrestler at 185 in there, he could probobly do some damage (and don't give me that Silva is a Black belt in BJJ because so was that dude who just fought fitch and fitch handed his ass to him each round.)

Rich didn't look ready and Silva beat him, Hughes said that if Rich lost he'd move up weight but we know this: Hughes has a fight next month and Rich is GARUNTEED a re-match with silva pretty soon, probobly in december or january.

So have you seen any of Silva's fights other than his UFC ones? If so, all you've seen is him fighting guys who are willing to stand and trade with him. What happens when he fights someone who wants to take him down, like a Tanner or Nathan Marquardt? Anderson is an awesome fighter, but he's been made to look average by mid-level fighters on a couple different occasions.
