No it's not. Pitching a dinner date to a girl that is merely a phuck =/= pitching a date (coffee, dinner, walk in the park, etc..) to a woman you are screening as wife material. You could reason if a woman does not offer to pay half or her portion of a $100 tab on date 1 or date 100, she may merely be going along for the ride, and depending on the woman/circumstance, I would agree.

But to say the same thing over a friggen coffee? You gotta be out of your mind if you don't see how rediculous this is:

"Uhh. She didn't pull out her wallet when the $5 check came so I'm not meeting her again. She's a gold digger".

As a side note, I was pretty much raised to where a wifes job is to stay home with the kids, clean the house and make food, and a man always pays for a date. 1950's style. Which is why in the top paragraph I say it depends. I think its common when a guy asks a woman out and comes up with the date idea, picks the restaurant etc..it's assumed since he invited the girl he's going to pay. I've dated plenty of women that on a 1st date dinner or drinks they won't let me pay the full tab. These are usually proud & independent / sometimes feminist types.

And there's women who were also brought up 1950's style and expect the man to pay for the date. Grouping them all as "materialistic whores" is retarded.

I think he was referring specifically to fancy dinners on the first date. Obviously it's tacky and ridiculous to expect to split a coffee date. If the first date bill is over $50 and a woman doesn't at least offer to split, that usually is a red flag though.

Idk why he keeps indexing off splitting this $5 coffee. I’ve paid for almost every drink/coffee on my initial dates without hesitation. And usually they’re closer to $15.

Generally speaking I agree. But it's not black and white. Like a $51.50 bill isn't a red flag, $50 in Alabama is a 5 star top rated restaurant, $50 in nyc is taco bell, etc...plus other variables that don't make it so simple.
