I hope everyone's having a great Sunday.
Yesterday I caught a show on the Cooking Channel hosted by Bobby Deen, Paula Deen's son, and it looks like he lifts. He takes his mom's recipes and modifies them to fit his lifestyle. The show is called "Not My Mama's Meals".

And I ran across this just now. Quick and easy recipes in the m*sc winter cutters thread:

Edit: For one month starting Tuesday I won't have gym access, so I'll be doing a variety of timed, weighted and un-weighted cardio circuits daily, and running sprints up a steep hill near my brother's house on weekends...Diet-wise I'll basically do what I've been doing, keeping things in check thru portion and proportion control. My dinner and lunch plates usually look like the US gov't "My Plate", except the whole grains portion often gets filled by an additional veggie/bean entree. I'm working on getting more whole grains into my diet.

Just made all my lunch and dinner for the week. 4oz. chicken garlic salt and red neck pepper seasoning, 1/2 cup of brown rice, and 1/2 cup of brocclie. Will be cooking sausage, bell peppers, and cheese to make a breakfest burrito in the morning, and protien shakes, creatine, and bcaas. yummy.

That sounds good man. Ill have to get organized like that too. Right now i buy pre packaged meals that are cheap and low cal and add in two protein shakes a day.

Yea it can kinda be time consuming but its easy. I spent roughly $40 or less at the store got to big bags of chicken breast, 2 bags of broccolli, 1 jimmy dean sausage roll, milk gallon 2%, block of cheese, and because I wanted to treat myself one of those animal cookie red box things from when I was a kid. and then just cooked haha. Buy a lot of tubaware. I only made one bag of chicken and thats just enough for 2 meals monday thru friday.

Stepped on the scale yesterday morning and saw 266. Hope that holds through until tomorrow morning.
I find that I am struggling to get enough protein in. I'd be interested in hearing where many of you are finding your protein for the day. Overall my weights training is going up and I'm losing weight, but I know for a fact that I am not getting the amount of protein that I should be.~Former 300 Pound Club Member~

Whey shake for breakfast.
Greek yoghurt for snack
Chicken for lunch
Almonds (gets you some EFA for the day)/Can of tuna for snack
Chicken/Steak/Veal/Salmon/Shrimp for supper
Even stuff like meatloaf, spaghetti sauce, etc. will net you great amounts of protein. Ground beef should be 85/15 or leaner, you can go with ground turkey, canned chicken ... It's all over the place

Maybe I can add in a shake in the morning. I normally have just 1 shake a day right now and it's the last thing I take in for the day. Yogurt has never been a friend of mine. I admit its been many many years since I've tried it. Next time I go to the store I'll grab a few and see how it goes. I've been told that cottage cheese is good, but ugh getting that stuff down is horrible.
Thanks for the ideas. I'll rep once I come off my CD.~Former 300 Pound Club Member~

For the GY, add in a half scoop of protein (buy the natural greek yoghurt, not the flavoured stuff). Mix it up... Makes it almost like a mousse.
For cottage cheese, I like dumping cinnamon in there, and a quarter or a half cup of pineapple chunks. Makes it MUCH more enjoyable.
Also, switch out your last shake of the day for the cheese. Unless you're drinking casein protein, the cottage cheese is a better option to sleep on.Proud member of Team Ogre

Morning all, went shopping last night and stocked up on chicken, tilapia, frozen veggies etc for the next 2 weeks. $160 doesn't get you very far here.... Blah.
4LBs Chicken
5 Bags Frozen Tilapia
1200kg Fresh Chicken
8oz Fresh Tilapia
2x500g Plain Greek Yogurt
4x 250g 95% Fat Free Cream Cheese (For making dat dere protein cheesecake)
1 Box of 100 Calorie Frozen Oreo Icecream Bars
1 Box of 120 Calorie Frozen Crunch Icecream Bars
12Pack Diet Dr Pepper
6 Oreo Pudding Cups (COME @ ME BRO THEY ARE BOMB)
2 Bags Frozen Veggies (1 Broccoli 1 String Bean)
24 Eggs
2x Carton Egg Whites (Will sadly only last 2 days @ 1 carton/day (12 whites))
^^ Came out to $160~. Stupid high ass cost of living. On the bright side it works out to about $11-$12/day to eat. I'll still hit about 180g protein WITHOUT a shake which is nice, so I don't have to eat eggs every morning if I don't want to, or I can skip Greek Yogurt. Although I'm going to have to buy more Greek Yogurt by the weekend I think, but that's no surprise.***IIFYM Crew***

so since last wednesday, ive been really good, my only hiccup (not to bad i guess) was that i ate 2 cheeseburgers from In and out on saturday night, and a small shake i wanted to avoid anything deep fried, hence 2 cheeseburgers, in retrospect i should have only had one...lol it was the cheat day i was looking forward to! the only other temptation i had was going ot elephant bar on this past sunday night, but i only ate some bruchetta and the chicken lettuce wraps. normally id have the chicken marsala with mash and gravy and chicken strips as an appetiser. so i guess im proud of my choices last night! last wednesday, i bought a bag of turkey meatballs from trader joes and mainly have been eating those for dinner......i havent see much weight come off this week (if any) as i am still floating around 320lbs.....im not sure if its casue the turkey meatballs arent that good for me, or the fact that i havent exercied that much....even though, i plan on hitting the ellipitical for 20 mins and playing basketball for 1 hour today and tomorrow and hopefully that will spur some loss for my wednesday weigh in!

Morning.. Weight is up to 185.2.. 2nd day in a row. Keep eating like a junkie. LOL. Today, back to normal 3300. I also lowered my fat macros and increased my carb intake. Was looking at myself today when I get home from the gym and my chest has gotten noticeably bigger over the past few weeks. I've been hitting it twice per week for about 5 weeks now and its starting to pay off. Just finished my four day gauntlet of weight training and I really need a day off. Hit PR's today in triceps pushdown, dips, machine fly....

180 this morning. YIKES!
I don't even know what the heck I ate for me to hold like that.
Eh, tapering down to 2200 on lifting days & 2000 on off days starting today & adding the cardio I should of been doing the last few weeks.
By March 1st I intend to be on 2000 a day reguardless for a week then stay at 2k on lifting days & 1800 on off days & just keep it there until I stop loosing then adjust.

I went from a 53" waist to a 45" waist. I haven't bought new pants yet because Im loosing weight so quickly. I have my belt on the last hole and im just barely keeping it there. I know I'm swimming in my pants, but I wanted to wait until I got in to the 250s before I bought some new clothes.

That's a smart boy! I love Paula Deen's recipes but want to cry at the amount of calories that are in most of the stuff. I'll certainly check that out.
I'm feeling congested and tired. My food choices are not stellar. I don't think I'll see a loss. I need to get my head in the game and quick!Kristin "Never mind your failures today...get back on that horse and RIDE!"

Strength has suffered abit from my weight loss my dead lifts have become hard at 275 5x5 but I'm still pushing it out, everything else has stayed more or less the same
The craziest thing is how hard it is now to eat my old meals, I can barely put away half the portions. It's disgusting looking back at his much I was eating
On the bright side my food costs have gone WAY down hooray for my wallet
I recently made this Dijon Marsala pork tenderloin and it was restaurant quality, if you google it the first result should be it. Tastiest easiest dinner I've ever made hands down the wifey agreed
EDIT - heres the recipe
http://allrecipes.com/recipe/pork-te...ce/detail.aspx
i used garlic instead of shallots for what its worth

How many days is everyone working out a week? I'm currently on a MWF plan due to my jobs busy season and its worked for me (3-4lbs a week so far). I can feel myself getting stronger but im a bit nervous about trying to lift heavier due to a bad shoulder from my football years and no work out buddies. Any advise?

Man, I hear you there. I've been doing a PSMF a la Lyle McDonald for the past 6 days, and it's actually going insanely well, but Saturday night was a free meal and I had to work at it to get a few cookies and some beers down. Once you're used to 800-1,000 calories, it's so hard to eat 2,200 again.
Re: deadlifts - I actually PR'd my 1RM deadlift on Saturday, 4 days into my PSMF at 365 lbs. So psyched.
That's probably fine. Lifting at that frequency is perfect for losing fat and keeping LBM. Just monitor your shoulder (I too have a bad shoulder) and take it easy if you get some pain. I find that working out actually keeps my shoulder pain-free. Go figure.Fat and weak, but getting better.
1RMs as of 6/06/2012:
Squat: 320
Bench Press: 215
Deadlift: 350
Overhead Press: 120
Weighted Chin: +50

Nice work above, preparing all those meals in advance.
Any idea what's happening? What happened today, for example, in the hours before feeding times?
BTW, I saw "The Descendants" last night. As a 4th generation islander you should definitely see it at some point. I'm not saying it's the greatest movie, but it is Oscar nominated.start where you are
