This is laughable. LSU has been on the bad side of commentators and announcers almost the entire season. The only weird thing is Herbstreit being so pro-LSU this year its very weird, in seasons past he has been extremely anti-lsu and anti-sec, i dont know whats going on in his head. Hes usually stuck so far up usc's ass I guess since theyre awful this season he has no choice. for example, after the OSU loss when they came back to the three guys (forgot their names, Flutie was one of them) the ABC crew proceeded to completely IGNORE lsu, acting as if there was no way they were going into the nat'l champ game. in fact the only time they mentioned LSU was when they were forced to point out lsu was even #2 in the bcs when they splashed the rankings on the screen, because they had been sitting there talking like it was some kind of three way battle b/w ok ou and kansas for the natl championship. lsu rarely gets respect from the networks, period. they'll say little nice things about them here and there.

Lol..if you haven't noticed clearly the announcers and refs too are so against LSU its not even funny..its becoming clearly obvious they try to make LSU lose* by "missing" clear penalties in LSUs favor and call rediculous ones against them..Im not saying they dont make mistakes yes some of the flags happened but when they call something on LSU and dont on say alabama..and EVERYONE notices it..tells you something, and LSU still pulls out with a win..

If anything positive can be derived from last night's loss, it's that Illinois proved themselves as a force to be reckoned with. They beat Wisconsin earlier in the season too.
The big 10 conference is having an off year, but I think the tables are beginning to turn. It's almost like we've gone from the most overrated conference, to the most underrated conference. Nobody is giving credit to Wisconsin and Illinois when they've both kicked some ass this year. OSU has played well, considering it has a young team.
PSU, Michigan, and Purdue are good teams as well. Expect a much stronger big 10 conference next year. IMO, it's better to have a well balanced conference, rather than have OSU or Michigan stomp over every other team in it.
As far as the crying goes, in my post, look at who I called, I called my SISTER. I doubt many of the fans were actually crying, she wasn't, I was just trying to make a point that everyone was devastated. So I hate to see this turn into a "OSU fans are a bunch of babies" thread.Last edited by AcEReconA; 11-11-2007 at 10:21 AM.

I'm not sure what games you have been watching, but anytime I've watched LSU games, (and bear in mind, I didn't start rooting against LSU until OSU became #1) the coverage seemed pretty pair. They may not have given a lot of compliment to LSU or their opponents, but they gave constant praise to the SEC conference, and rightfully so.
As far as the referees being anti-LSU, I think your mistaken. Almost all of the plays reviewed in the LSU vs Alabama game went in LSU's favor, and those were game changing plays. I'm not saying they were bad calls, I'm just saying that if the refs were really anti-LSU, they were close enough plays to be called in Alabama's favor.
I think whatever team you root for, you're going to notice the bad calls against your team, so it might seem as though the refs don't like your team, but I'm sure they make unbiased calls, it IS their job.

In all fairness, who's asses have they kicked? Wisconsin beat Michigan, who lost to Appalachian State. Illinois beat OSU, who was over-rated to begin with. It's good they lost though, because I don't want to see another blow out Championship game again.
The SEC is finally getting the recognition it deserves. After the rankings come out today, the SEC should have 8 bowl eligible teams, with one of those teams in competition for the national title. The Big Ten has 2 bowl eligible teams, with none in competition for the national title. I would not say they are under-rated.*~=Gator Nation=~*

Yeah my bad I forgot about MSU for a second, they're a solid team as well.
First of all, I never said that the Big 10 was better than the SEC conference. I can aknowledge that this year, the SEC has been the powerhouse conference. What I'm saying is that the Big 10 Conference still has some solid teams, expect them to come back stronger next year. What teams are you expecting Illinois to beat to prove themselves? They beat the best team in the conference, and Wisconsin when they were ranked very very high. This is the problem I have, who are we expected to beat to prove ourselves? Unless the SEC is going to schedule OOC games against the Big 10, then how will we ever get the recognition?
Not to insult the SEC, but they like to schedule weak against weak OOC teams to soften up their schedule, and I don't blame them.

Here is another thing I don't understand about SEC fans:
When OSU was ranked #1, all we ever heard was how "BCS rankings mean nothing! OSU isn't the best team!". Then a week later we hear the same SEC fans saying "Oh my god you lost to a team that wasn't even ranked!".
You can't have it both ways, either the BCS standings mean everything, and OSU was the best team in football for 4 weeks, or however many weeks they were ranked #1. OR, you can accept the fact that there are good football teams who are unranked.
To compare a loss to Appallacian state and a loss to Illinois is rediculous. Those teams aren't even the same caliber.

Well it looks like the actual number 1 team is now ranked number 1 to me.
Also, your comparison makes no sense. Each loss was embarrassing, to say that OSU losing to Illinois was anything other than an upset is pure hack. OSU wasn't, at any point in time, the best football team in this country, either this year or last. BC should have never been second either, because they were exposed and have now suffered two humiliating loses back to back. The BCS is screwed up, I don't see how anyone could argue otherwise.*~=Gator Nation=~*

That's exactly why I started off my sentence with "Not to insult the SEC..." and ended it with "and I don't blame them". I think it's completely fair for them to schedule weak OOC games. I'm just saying that if you are going to do that, then don't constantly whine about Big 10 teams being "unproven" or "unchallenged", because who else can they prove themselves with?

The way I see it is that you can have it both ways. Rankings are fine, and IMO they are necessary, HOWEVER, playoffs need to be implemented. Do away with the BCS, and do the ranks based on the AP and Coaches poll. Divide the top teams into two divisions at the end and have playoffs, the teams winning their respected divisions battle for the national title.

I know, I think the argument against it, that it will extend the college football season too much, is outrageous. We're talking an extra 2-3 games here and an incredible amount of extra revenue. I'm all for bowl games, but the way a national champion should be picked needs to be changed.
