These are forearm exercises. There is not enough muscle near the joint to work directly.Originally posted by Evolution2318
i used to do curls with a straight bar and it definitly made my wrists a little thicker.
Also there is an exercise where you sit on a bench and curl a broom stick handle with both arms about 3 sets of 100 or til failure.
A really good one a friend showed me is get an attachable dumbell bar, tie a string around it and a weight to the other end and roll it up 3 times (while standing on a bench)and your wrists will be dead.
Hope I could be some help, these exercises are hard to explain.

How. (this one i'd love to hear, esp. considering how nathan holle who is one of 2 or 3 people who can close the #4 has skinny ass wrists)
But the wrist and forearm is mostly involved in leverage, like holding a weighted hammer by the light end and keeping it horizontal, stuff like that.
What I do is get a few bricks, hold one in each hand by the end with my fingers and hold them horizontal, with another brick out at the other end on top of them. Hold it for as long as I can, and my wrists and forearms are killing me.

Why would anybody care how thick their wrists are? I've never once heard somebody say"Wow look at the wrists on him." Besides you should want smaller wrists because it makes your forearms look that much more impressive. Just look at Flex Wheeler.Last edited by Stagger; 05-31-2004 at 06:22 PM.

Mighty, actually, you would be surprised how many people notice it. Anyways, ill see what happens, again thanks for the feedback.
"Your forearms might look bigger by comparison if you have small wrists, but I don't really give a ****. Having big, strong wrists would be better. But if all you care about is looks, you probably ignore the hand and wrist anyway."

hyper, I know I wasnt going to be able widen my bones. But I have to totally disagree when you say "You cant grow bone" because yes you can grow bone. Evolution, thanks for the exercises I will give them a try. Its finding a way to work those mucles on your wrist.........ive been experimenting but nothing too great yet. Though doing reverse grip(palms down) cable curls seemed to shock the hell out of my forearms and some parts of the wrist. Give that a whirl. Key: keeps wrists straight, DO NOT BEND.
there is a muscle between them that hold them together .. called Quadratus teres .. I belive when this muscle grow your wrist will look wider ...
am not so sure if this is possible but theorticaly it sounds logical

I too have skinny wrists. I do wrist curls, reverse wrist curls, and you can make a little device by attaching a rope to a dumbell or something of that lenght and attach a weight to it. Then you roll it up upwards or downwards. I mainly do wrist curls and reverse wrist curls. There are others that hit them as well, like when you do biceps curls, reverse grip curls to name a couple.

Hmmm, after reading all these posts, I came up with a simple test. I tightened my watch on my left wrist as far as I possibly could, then tried to do the same on my dominant right wrist. I discovered that my right is slightly larger then my left.
This leads me down the dangerous road of concluding that you can, in fact, increase your wrist size.

That's because you were right handed as a child on through puberty when bone growth occurred and can be affected. After that, you're not going to see that kind of growth.
BTW, I'm not trying to disprove science, I just don't tend to believe something only because someone's posted it on a message board. If you say it's science, post some credible links, it's much easier to convince people of the truth when you have the facts there to show them.

i dont want to get involved in all the arguing, but boxers MAY (this is just a guess)have thick wrists from multiple multiple wrist injuries. or just recent ones for that matter. hit a heavy bag enough without wrist straps and your bound to **** up your wrists eventually. i know i have had many a swollen wrists from punching things (i used to drink heavily ).

your wrists have no muscle around em, only way they will get bigger is if your bone structure and frame grows with puberty. i had same size wrists i have now when i was 60lbs lighter. don't worry about your wrists anyhow.

I dont think the actual bone will grow, but I have been doing heavy plate wrist curls and sledgehammer levering for the past 8 months, and the tendons must have got much larger because before when I like tensed my hand there was nothing there, but now, there is nearly 3 quarter inches more mass. So I denfinetly believe at least the tendons will grow, so it still makes your wrist look bigger if you flex your forearm.
bottom line, train the grip and forearms.
