Damn! I totally had it in mind but forgot to add this to you broscience thread. You can't be running with regular shoes, bruh. Evolution perfectly designed your feet to handle long distance running, regardless of your ancestors' geographic background or the fact that we've rarely relied on running down our prey on foot for thousands of years as a species. It's either toe shoes or nothing, bruh.

I feel you man. When I had covid, my beer was tasteless and that was probably the worst part of it all. Was worried I'd lose taste forever but it came back. Haven't had a drink at all in a few weeks but the taste of beer is always a pleasant thought.

Well, as your question is posed, yes there is a minimum level of glucose for your brain. But thanks to gluconeogenesis, your body can make that from things like amino acids(which come from the Essential protein macro)

For children with epilepsy on a ketogenic diet for treatment we try to go extremely low with carbohydrates, so much so that when we put them on medications we need to discuss with the pharmacists to have special formulations made that do not have glucose in them. I don't know how many carbs they get from fruits/vegetables but it's going to be extremely little and to my knowledge they don't show any negative health effects (from an acute metabolic standpoint, long-term not getting many fruits/vegetables is not ideal). As desslok said the liver can make glucose from gluconeogenesis and for that reason consuming actual carbs does not seem essential.

I don't know if they do studies on this, but I'm pretty sure they're essential to my mental well-being. Seems like it'd be a pretty miserable & depressing existence without carbs.
