Final Thoughts
SOOOO, the factors that are important to me would be the following, so I will give my thoughts on each of them!
1) Ingredients
2) How I felt in the gym while taking these products
3) Taste
4) Cost
5) Effectiveness
1) The Ingredients, I covered this an earlier post, so for those of you that have been following along this will just be recap.
FOR the PRE-WORKOUT:
The proprietary blend is 9g, so it's a pretty heavy dose of active ingredients. However, Taurine is the very first ingredient. I don't think taurine is necessarily a bad ingredient, but it's dirt cheap so I would guess they put a whole bunch of it in as a filler, but that could be wrong. If that's not the case, then the whole product just got better!
Creatine: There are 2 types of creatine fairly high on the list, plus 1g in the BCAA product. So, I would imagine between the products it probably comes pretty close to the 3-5g dose, but i've been adding a little bit in on my own just for good measure.
Beta-Alanine: Between the 2g in the BCAA, and the fact it is second on the blend list. I would almost guarantee this hits the studied dose of 3.2g
In addition, the proprietary blend has citrulline, agmatine, caffeine, and some b-vitamins. However, they are so low in the blend they are probably negligible amounts.
That's a good thing with the caffeine though, many of the pre-workouts today have WAYYY more caffeine than is necessary.
FOR the BCAA endurance:
I like the 2:1:1 ratio, and this product has a dose of BCAA's comparable to most other good BCAA products on the market.
The glutamine isn't a bad addition.
The amount of B-vitamins in this product are negligible at best.
The addition of creatine and beta-alanine are good to make up for anything missing in the pre-workout when you stack them.
Plus, the intra workout citrulline is a great additive for a pump, but I would like to see a slightly higher dose.
2) I felt great in the gym while taking this product!
It was probably a combination of beginning to add in calories, and taking this product.
However, I literally only had maybe 2 "rough" workouts while taking this product, and it was during my max effort heavy training before my deload so I think it was largely just to my CNS being wayyy taxed.
3) The taste is once again something I covered in an earlier post
I tried each of these a few different ways.
I figure the two most common ways to take Pre-Workout or BCAA'S is mixed in water or straight to the dome piece chased by some water.
Therefore, those are the two ways i'm going to give my thoughts on.
To start, Volatile pre-workout:
Mixed in water: This is ok mixed in water, the flavor isn't bad, but it's a little dillute. However, I don't really take pre-workout for the taste (besides C4), so I wouldn't complain.
Straight to the dome, dry powder: I LOVE THIS! Filling the scoop about 1/2 way and tossing back the powder twice is like eating a pixi stick! I love the taste, and this is how I will be taking the pre-workout from here on out!
The BCAA endurance:
Mixed in water: Not super fond of this, it doesn't have much of a flavor, but it has a funky after taste. Mix in a little crystal light, or MiO and you're good to go though.
Straight to the dome, dry powder: Not bad, kinda chalky, and still not a ton of flavor. I prefer to mix it with water and sip it throughout the workout.
THE CONSENSUS: So neither is awful, it's sorta backwards because typically I drink BCAA'S for the taste, and Pre-Workout for the stims. However, with these products the taste of pre-workout is better than the BCAA'S. Mix in a little Crystal Light or MiO and these are good to go. However, aside from the dry volatile neither is too outstanding, but neither is too awful.
4) The cost of these products
Volatile is about $30, and comes out to just under $1 per scoop which isn't bad..
It's not a dirt cheap product, but for what you're getting it's not necessarily overpriced either
BCAA Endurance is $31 and is once again around $1 per scoop, you could probably find some other BCAA's for slightly less money.
However, this has a good dose of BCAA's, glutamine, Beta-alanine, and Citrulline
So i'd say it's worth a shot!
5) Effectiveness: I don't know if this necessarily had all the proper doses of the ingredients I would like to see, but I did feel great while taking this product, and I would say that's one of the most important factors in taking pre-workout and BCAA's
If you have the money giving these products a shot is definitely worth your time!
Give 'em a shot and let me know your thoughts!Hyper-Gro Log Thread - http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=166103841
