So, I was supposed to go blueberry picking today with friends, but it didn't happen. Got too late in the day, and we decided to go tomorrow morning.
I wish I wasn't such a procrastinator. There has to be self help books or something out there, to help one get past that, right? I always have the next day planned...''I'll do this this and this...'' and then the next day comes and I only do ''this and this.'' The last ''this'' never happens. Something to work on.
Today, went for a 4 mile run, and then did some push ups, jumping squats, and bicep curls. About 5 sets of each, 12 reps.

Was going to leave work earlier, and try for a long-ish run, but got an email late in the day, asking me to travel in a few weeks for a company convention. Yay.
So, shorter run today, but timed.
3.25 miles - distance
31:03 minutes -- time
I have a love/hate relationship with timing runs. It's good to know where you are, but then, it takes the fun out of it, sometimes. If you're not where you want to be.
No lifting today.
Thought for the day- Sometimes, I wonder what motivates people to be mean to people who are kind to them. Maybe they aren't happy in their own lives? Maybe it's the way of social media, and it's just easier to be unkind to someone else, when you're not face to face? Hard to say really, but I think when we act rude because someone has been rude to us first, we just make the world a worse place. I'm not suggesting to be a doormat, but rather...just walk away. Offer them some kind thoughts or prayers in your heart, and move on. I've done this a few times over the past couple of years, with people who I have been kind to, and who were unkind to me in return. If you spend your life stooping to everyone's level, you'll only make your own life worse. There's strength in taking the higher road.

On the menu today, another 5x5 workout, and a fun run.
Happy Saturday!!

Invited to a dinner quasi birthday party for a friend tonight, so between running errands and handling some work emails earlier (and having to buy a bday present) didn't get a chance to do the routine I wanted. Went for a 5 mile run and it went pretty well, even though it's really hot today. Think it's ten degrees above the norm, so it made for a sweaty run.
Tomorrow, I should be able to get today's planned lifting routine done.
Have a great weekend!

It's not easy. But, wasting negative energy on people who are unkind, meh...what's the point? Ignoring them works too. lol
Nice job on the 5-miler, and I hope you were able to get that session in. I'm still training, but I am unable to update my journal. I keep getting an error when I try.
Yesterday's workout, increasing weight ever so slightly:
Deadlift:
(light)
5x80
5x90
5x95
5x85
5x80
Chest/Flat bench with db's
5x30
5x30
5x40
5x30
5x30
Back squat:
5xjust bar
5xjust bar
5xbar +25 lbs
5xbar + 25 lbs
5xjust bar
50 ab crunches
50 leg lifts
A few planks
* Then, a 3.5 mile run.
Short work week due to the Easter holiday coming up. I'm reminded by God's grace every day.
Found this cover while I was looking for something else over the weekend, and looove it. Might be the best cover I've ever heard.

Are you deadlifting for 25 sets or 5 sets? I am confused on what 5x5x80 is..I and sure one of the 5 is reps, and the 80 is either lbs or kgs, what is the other 5 for?

Tonight, a short-ish run (2 miles), and 30 minutes of yoga. I'm getting pretty good at holding more challenging poses.
Yoga is the perfect opportunity to learn about who you are. -Jason Crandell
I used to think all these yoga ideas were cliche, but as I continue on with yoga, the poses get a little easier, the focus happens, the balance comes. Not just physically, but mentally. Not over night, but over time. 30 minutes of yoga, or even half that, is never wasted time, in my opinion.

It has helped with my running endurance. And yoga offers transferable strength, like it has become useful in my everyday life. Lifting helps as well, with that. Definitely give it a try, there are so many videos online you can find, you don't have to force yourself into a yoga studio.
Tonight, no workout. I had a project to finish for work, and it got too late. Tomorrow, I'll plan to make up for it.

Nice full body session! I started getting the error way back in February on my long time thread. I guess it is happening sort of randomly to others. I tried everything, emptying cache, using a different browser, but it seems as though if I type more than a few sentences, I get the 404 error. I hate to give up on a 8 year old journal, but I may just start a new one. Have a great Easter Weekend!

John - the same thing happened to me. For some reason it was only when I hit the reply with quotes button. Even if I went in, copied the text, and then did a reply and pasted, it still wouldn't let me post. I finally just recreated a new post and put everything in and it worked. Not sure what the bug is but that's what did it for me

First, 2 mile run.
Deadlift:
(medium)
5x85
5x90
5x100
5x105
5x90
Seated chest press machine:
5x35
5x35
5x45
5x30
5x30
Back squat:
5xjust bar
5xjust bar
5xbar +40
5xbar + 40
5xbar + 30
Bicep curls:
5 sets of 15 x 12 lb db's
Tricep kickback:
5 sets of 15 x 10 lb db's
*Note - I've done 5x5 before, and I've liked how I can increase weight at a safe pace, quickly. But, I'm not following it precisely. Just going with what feels comfortable, and then slightly uncomfortable, to judge how far to push each session. I should set some lifting goals for DL and squats.

It is very unusual. I never had an issue for years, but it seemed something changed around the end of February. I've tried everything as my journal is around 8 years old, cache, restarts, different browsers, etc. I'm also having to prove I'm a human each time I sign in. "click on all the pics with traffic lights."
Yeah, I've had other threads for different experiments, supplements etc. But, the group journal has been my mainstay. I really hate to give up on it, but there doesn't seem to be a fix.
Great session! 5x5 is a great program/progression. Are you doing all your running training outdoors? I've been doing the 20 minute city-run. I start from my home and make a giant rectangle back usually covering 2.4-2.6 miles. With the nicer weather, I might return to some sprint training soon.Workout Log:

Thanks! I took a ''bootcamp'' type class like two years ago, where the workouts were centered around bear crawls, burpees, weights incorporated in, etc and the instructor said something that always sticks with me, now. ''That rep or two past your uncomfortable zone is what will bring results.'' Much of the time, we tend to stop as soon as it gets a little uncomfortable. So, I push more now, and I'll see where it leads with this new program.
Today, is my Friday, off tomorrow from work.

Exactly, lol Def don't want to end up injured. Hope your day is going well!
Soooo, I'm thinking about buying that Peloton spin bike. I've taken spin classes many times before, and between going back and forth between working out from home and then joining a gym, I think it'd be a great thing to have at home. It's almost $2000 and I just pre-qualified for it. I'm going to give it some thought.
edit - in another thread, it was brought up that they are being sued, and I looked it up - looks like copyright infringement over their use of songs in workout videos. I might forgive them this one time. lolLast edited by whatevergirl; 04-18-2019 at 09:35 AM.

4 mile fun run this afternoon! Tomorrow I have off, so planning to meet a friend for breakfast, and then lift after that. It will be nice to lift whenever I want.
Supposed to be stormy tomorrow so it will be a good day to workout indoors.
One of my guy friends talked me out of buying that Peloton. lol He made a lot of great points. For one, it's a bit too much $ and I can find one for less. I'm not sure I even want a new spin bike. I might just like the commercials, if I'm honest.
Off to meet someone for a mojito. Have a good night, ya'll!
