IMO a hypothetical situation that starts with, "if we were not human," doesn't apply here. Let's stick to the human race.

Sure, a certain group might have no problem with killing innocent people and for them it's okay because of their "justifications for doing so." Morals are subjective but objective at the same time. To the vast majority of the human race, the group killing innocent people will be looked down upon.

Also, I'm sure that some of the members of the group that kills innocent people know deep down that what they are doing is wrong, but they continue due to being either brainwashed or coping by drinking, doing drugs, etc. Humans aren't emotionless robots at the end of the day.

Reminds me of the doctors that did tests on people during the holocaust. Granted I don't doubt that some had no choice because if they didn't do those things...their families may be the next test subjects. But I'm sure there were those that didn't need that incentive and didn't see people, but rather lab rats.
