Hnnnggg went on a canoe trip yesterday in the creek we always use to fish. It was always good fishing but yesterday was insane. Caught literally 60-70 small mouth, average size was around 2 lbs. Caught 6 over 3 lbs with the biggest being 3.7. I'll get some pics up tomorrow.

Went kayaking for my first time on the upper Mississippi just had to bring a rod with, couldn't resist. Just tossed a popper around some laydowns and caught a handful of smallies and a pike. It sure is fun catching them from a kayak. You're right down there at eye level with them and bigger ones can pull you a bit. I'm glad I pinched all the barbs down on the trebles they are harder to tame from the kayak.

Excellent post, thanks for sharing! I think I've only used shrimp as catfish bait twice in my life, but I did land a decent 5.5-pound channel cat... Makes sense that they would work so well! I suppose it would be worth trying a bag of frozen shrimp the next time I hit the river...
will be bringing my Cabela's King Kat and Zebco Hawg Seeker.. :P
Have a good one!Bowser

We use cut bait for cats. You'll catch then on shrimp, but size comes most often on cut

That would be quite the battle. At this point I don't think I'd want to hook into a big 'ski unless I had a place to beach the kayak and properly unhook it. The smallies were trouble enough for me at first.
I can see kayak fishing being addicting. Also just found out a friend of mine bought two recently which I'm stoked about.*Misc Fisherman Crew*

Finally was able to catch some bass at the lake I frequent (Lake Lopez, CA). Caught 5 of them, all little fukkers but was happy as fukk that I finally caught largemouth out there. Trout seem to be all in deeper water, so I'm still striking out there but I know there's fukking tons there. TFW no boat
.
Went a week later and caught a pretty big bluegill randomly. Thought it was funny, put up a pretty good fight actually.

Took my little brother fishing out on the Big Sioux River...
We had some pretty decent luck... We caught about 5 channel catfish and five carp on our "Cabela's King Kat" poles. My little brother caught two walleye. We also caught a couple shortnose redhorse (those sucker fish) and gar. The carp were quite big, even for a junk fish, fun to reel in...
As the sun started to go down, I felt a nibble on my line. On the second bite, I yanked back to set the hook. Ended up landing this beauty, with my little brother netting it for me:
It was a fun experience!Bowser

~ sorry for tl;dr post
This whole kayak purchase went so shietty... I would have gladly paid an extra $1-200 to purchase it locally and avoid this headache (but the local selection here is kind of crappy)
These motherfcukers made me pay $80 return shipping on the first kayak that came damaged (plastic chair hinge split in two, scratches all over the place). I had to wait another 2 weeks for the replacement kayak which came in yesterday, and this one came fcuked up as well. The plastic bag was all torn up and there are a ton of scratches/nicks all over the place. Nothing serious, but it sucks paying $500 + $80 shipping to have it come in such poor condition. I got on the phone with a manager there, and expressed that I was pissed about the condition it came in, that I have already been waiting over a month, I would have to wait another 2+ weeks to exchange it again, pay another $80 return shipping, and another 80 to get the next one shipped... so he offered 50% off this one and just wanted me to email him some pics. So I kept it instead of having the delivery guy take it back. I emailed them the pics and havent heard from them in 3 days.... ugghhhhhhhh
If youre gonna buy a kayak, just buy one locally. Fcuk the online sales/lower prices. (especially academy)
Pics of how it was shipped / cut that's like 2 feet long.. (+ there were tons of other cuts/ nicks not pictured)
On a positive note, I grabbed my poverty pole and took the yak out on her maiden voyage... wow was it a good time. It was a bit odd because I'm so used to having the fish finder on the boat, it sucked trying to navigate the lake without knowing the depth, dropoff locations, structure, etc. Im kinda obsessed with kayak fishing now, cant wait to go out again.
