"Do you think SHE actually felt like that was a sexual thing he was doing? She's like 6. Only an actual p3do would think that she thought he was groping her, too."
"Not that it's impossible to touch a minor inappropriately, but it is true that a 6 year old girl will not recognize someone putting a hand on their chest as groping, whether it is inappropriate or not."

Saw the CHiPS movie on Netflix, such a stupid flick. The Penya lead character annoys me in anything he's in, whiney with a super punchable face.
That said, there were some really funny scenes and the story is pretty good for a raunchy comedy.Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.

Thor "Love & Thunder" is not a great movie by any stretch, they have turned the character into a comical fool at times when he could be one of the most bad ass ones. By stating its not great doesn't mean I hated it as I actually found it amusing and better than some others. I think Taiki and Disney do need to take the wokeness down a step or 3 as it doesn't need to pervasive and here it started to border that. I was fine with Tessa's Valkyrie character coming out but then they had to make Korg gay? It was done in a humorous way especially when he explains how baby Korgs are made but still why the need to go down that road?
I also think it's time they hand the reigns off to another director and take Thor in another direction and stop him from being the butt of so many jokes."You know that little thing in your head that keeps you from saying things you shouldn't? Yeah, well, I don't have one of those."

I enjoyed it, spent great two hrs and thought this is worth posting here.
The girl (Emilia Jone) is the only hearing member of her family. When the family's fishing business is threatened, Ruby finds herself torn between pursuing her passion at Berklee College of Music and her fear of abandoning her parents...
Aside from the life of handicapped people, the movie has all the ingredients I can identify with myself, like father & daughter, brother & sister, father & mother, husband & wife, student & music teacher, music career, kid's own dream & family's life...and so on.
There's also a bonus, a pleasant surprise, I found Marlee Matlin in it. ("Children of a Lesser God", BTW R.I.P. William Hurt *bow*)
This time Marlee Matlin played the role of a mother instead of a rebellious young girl, both are hearing-impaired but the role was reversed, sort of.
Children of a Lesser God (1986)
CODA (2021)
Warning: The parents in this film love sex and there're comical scenes and conversations about sex (though without any nudity) so you can't watch with little kids.

Watched Jurassic World Dominion tonight and it was enjoyable if a bit long, the CGI was great and the story was halfway decent. We rented it from Redbox and the extras on the DVD were over an hr long and almost better than the movie itself.
Also viewed Old last night, decent enough story but depressing as all hell."You know that little thing in your head that keeps you from saying things you shouldn't? Yeah, well, I don't have one of those."

Hostage
Found an older Bruce Willis movie the other night. The basic story is that three punks take a family of three hostage, originally for the car but take over the house. It's pretty intense at times but there are several things that make you wonder what's really going on. There are twists and turns that you never see coming and the ending is just...wow! Bruce Willis is the "real" Bruce in this movie, maybe because it was made between "Die Hard" films. It's a whirlwind and very enjoyable to watch. You won't get up to go to the bathroom without holding the movie.

Speaking of older hidden gems, Watched Collateral with Tom Cruise tonight.
He's an ace hitman that hires a cab to take him around to his hits, it does not go as expected at all. It's a great thriller and the action is somewhat credible (the guns actually need reloading).
If you're looking for a guy flick, this one's "free" on Netflix. I liked it.
Also watched "Me Time" with Marky and Kevin Hart. With all that talent you would think it would be great, but it's not. Very formulaic, 40 minutes in before I had a good laugh, unnecessarily crude and an unoriginal story. It's like a story about adults written by a 14 year old.Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.

Older Bruce Willis
Just watched "The Last Boy Scout" with Bruce Willis and Daymon Wyans from 1991. Good action and twists and Bruce being cool enough that we had put put the heat on. His daughters character evolved throughout effortlessly. A good spend of a couple of hours with excitement and a chuckle here and there.
Bruce fans check in here.

Gave it a try, all just gunshots with no story, gave up.
New Elvis movie with Tom Hanks is good. Shows his life from a different perspective, basically all the scabs living off of him. Will watch again.
Watched "The Tender Bar" with the Mrs., she liked it so of course I did not, lots of stars in the cast but kind of a slow soap opera.
Watched "Champion" about a Polish boxing champ that is in Auschwitz, he fights to entertain the Nazi's and stay alive, there's some great Rocky moments but overall very sad.
"This is the End" bunch of young movie stars face Armageddon as themselves, raunchy and stupid, but a few scenes had me LOL.
"A Good Old Fashioned Orgy" Netflix, don't know if this was supposed to funny or reverent, but it was neither and a waste of time.Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.

I watched the whole thing and the first episode or two is awesome but once it was just him torturing and murdering people it got boring. In all these movies there's a lot of suspension of disbelief as the hero basically has superpowers, but this one was exaggerated and over-the-top in the hero's superpowers even for these movies.
Not to spoil it, but the end has a twist on who the final bad guy is that is a total shocker. Unless you've ever seen a movie before, in which case you knew it all along.
All in all a bit "meh", but maybe above average.

Howdy....
I'm not a Sandra Bullock fan by any stretch but I stumbled onto some glossy reviews of it so we checked it out last night.
A sci-fi film called...."Bird Box".
I was totally underwhelmed and crossed the threshold into boredom but stuck with it until the end.
Drawn out story of some unidentified entity that makes you go bat shvt and decide to kill yourself if you look at it.
Never shows the entity itself....guess they saved buckaroos on any SFX which this movie needed badly but omitted.
Sandra and two kids spent much of their time with blindfolds on while navigating a river for 40+ hours and even some rapids.
With blindfolds still on, they even walk through a forest (uh-huh) and finally arrive at some ambiguous, aviary looking destination.
Ending was dull and anti-climatic from my POV.
If you love Sandra give it a shot.
It's a frog hair over (2) hours.
If I were asked?....I wouldn't recommend it unless you've diligently exhausted all other genres of preference.
If I'm in the minority I can live with it.
Back to it weed hoppers....Last edited by Wayne Evans; 09-19-2022 at 02:29 PM.
