Thanks Payton. That has to be a pretty rare problem for people trying to get some training in.
Thanks grouchy. That's what I've heard. Might have to get one of those pee pee tee pees this time around.
Yeah, I bet that would take some smooth talking, flowers, chocolates, maybe a cruise... For me it was impossible. She just decided she wanted another and I just enjoyed the fun but brief benefits... Yeah man, the elliptical is alright. My feet tend to go numb for some reason after about thirty minutes though. Not sure why. It only happens on the elliptical...

12 Push-ups on Dumbbells
8 DB Curls (each arm), 40 lb
6 Arnold Press, 40 lb
12 DB Rows (each arm), 40 lb
6 GHD Sit-ups
Time: 10:20
Conditioning: Metcon
4 Rounds for Time:
6 Pull-ups with Knees to Elbows (Sub for 2 rope climbs)
20 Alternating DB Snatches, 30 lb
Time: 8:00
Comments: Woke up really tired and have a little bit of a runny nose. I hope I didn't succomb to anything, especially only a few days out from our son's arrival. Oh well. This will be the last strength session before he gets here. Anything after this will just be conditioning.
Hex Deads/Bench/Landmines: Absolutely mowed through those sets. The weight on DLs was right on. The Bench weight was a little light but manageable in that scenario. The Landmine weight was also right on the money. Nine sets in as many minutes. Done.
Accessory: Good combination of movements. This flowed well and I took minimal breaks between sets.
Metcon: I literally didn't take a break until I had 4 reps to go of DB snatches in the 4'th round... Pathetic... Finish strong dude!
Alright, got it done. I will likely only get to one more session before the baby arrives. It may be a metcon, it may be some cardio at the Y. Hope you all have a great day!All-Time PR's and Info:

Great looking workout Trent! That's some serious looking work with all those sets of 12. Those rounds of accessories are impressive too man.
It sounds like you're just about at "go time" with the birth of your son. Good luck brother! It'll be fun having a little Trent following you around and doing Metcons one day.If in doubt, squat and run hills. So you walk into the gym and don't know what to do? Then squat and run hills. Have a miserable day at work and want to break someone's neck but aren't sure who's? Then squat and run hills. - Wendler

Thanks Gents.
I sincerely apologize for not getting around to the journals much this week. I've been slammed with baby preparations at home and leave preparations at work. I had planned to do some conditioning either yesterday or today but in a rare exception to my normal decision, I chose to rest as there likely won't be much of that coming up... :rolleys: My wife's C-section is scheduled for tomorrow morning so it is officially go time for us. Any promises to get to the journals anytime soon are comical at best. Although you never know, maybe I will get some time while cooped up on an uncomfortable hospital couch for a few days... If you think to, please drop us a thought or prayer as we are not exactly youthful 20 year-olds anymore and will need all the help we can get. I wish you all happy training in the coming days/weeks. I will try to check in when I can. Hit it hard and keep pounding!All-Time PR's and Info:

Thank you kindly Greg. The thoughts and prayers definitely helped!
Thanks for checking in Shane! I saw this post while in the hospital but didn't respond because it's a PITA to respond on an iPad, but it definitely meant a lot, as did your prayers. Thank you brother.All-Time PR's and Info:

Comments: First workout since our son's arrival. I ended up taking exactly 7 days off so that was a good break. Up until now, the least amount of sleep we got was about 2 hours on the first night. Sleep has ranged from 5 hours to 8 hours a night since, with 8 hours of sleep last night. Luckily, everyone seem sto be healthy and happy so you can't beat that. Thanks so much for everyone's thoughts and prayers. It really meant a lot and I have no doubt that it affected us duing this time.
Box Squat: Went to the Y near our house for this one and they have lots of wooden stools out in the powerlifting area so that is what I used for box squats. They were right at parallel and felt pretty good.
OHP/Landmines: This was a cool superset. The power rack had a landmine thing so I just went for it. That means I'll have to do bench/pull-ups and trap bar deads later this week.
Accessory: That was a heck of a superset right there. Definitely got some looks during that one but at least people couldn't complain that I was using lots of different equipment...
Elliptical: Just did this one for calories. Nothing out of this world. Watched a Golf Channel speacil on Arnold Palmer so you can't beat that.
Well, first one in the books as a new dad again. If we can keep getting some sleep then these sessions should continue. Hope you all are well. I will get to the journals as I can.All-Time PR's and Info:

Comments: Meant to get this one in yesterday but parenthood called...
Hex Deads: These felt good.
Bench: These felt heavy in the middle but I finished strong. There ended up being 10 extra pounds on the bar at some point so that's probably why it felt heavy. Was happy to get 8x195.
Pull-ups: These felt heavy due to my fatness...
Accessory: This is only my second workout in as many weeks and boy could I feel it during that. On a good day, I probably could have done that a lot faster.
Metcon: Whew.... Definitely winded... I need to quite slacking...
Actually sweating out here in this balmy 75 degree garage. Glad to feel some warmer weather finally... Alright, back to parenthood. Have a great rest of the day!All-Time PR's and Info:

Thanks Payton. I love my kids very much. My wife and I had 6 years of solo time before kids and I still think back to those Saturday afternoon lazy naps, etc. Still, kids are an amazing blessing and I wouldn't trade it for the world.
Thanks buddy. I may have slightly edged in front but not by much. I'm digging the competition.All-Time PR's and Info:

Comments: Got this one in at the Y today.
Squats/Lat PD's: These were super weak. I officially suck at squatting... 225 felt like 285 used to feel...
Military DBP/Leg Raises: These felt fairly strong. I really wanted a set with 65's but didn't want to look like a little b!tch when I couldn't kick them up...
Accessory: This was good. First time doing wall ball shots. I think most people do them much higher than that but I was just going for some added weight to my air squats. I really enjoyed these.
Rowing: Man, I was huffing and puffing like crazy during these. I'm too out of shape. I need to be able to run again. I can dream...

Comments: Did this one at the Y with all the stay at home moms while my daughter was at preschool...
Hex Deads: This bar did not have the extended handles so this was regular bar height. That extra couple of inches makes a difference. These felt pretty heavy.
Decline/Rows: Good combo. Nice and heavy. Could have kept going on Decline Bench. That last set was paused. The lift off was kind of weird though so I stopped there.
Accessory I: Good little triplet. First time ever doing KBs. I have a nice bruise on my left wrist from it. Ha ha...
Accessory II: Just core work. These two machines were right next to each other so there were no breaks. I just walked by them, turned around and did this on the fly.
Elliptical: This hurt my foot a little. This particular one didn't incline at all so a lot of the weight was on the front of my foot. Hopefully it doesn't end up swollen.
Alright, that was quick. Posting this from the church parking lot, about to go in and pick up my daughter. Have a good day folks!All-Time PR's and Info:

Nice couple of workouts Trent. I wouldn't stress the lost weight on the bar on squats right now. You have a foot injury and I can only imagine added cortisol and lack of sleep and added stress with the new baby is taking it's toll more than actual strength loss. You will bounce back quickly.
Good looking DB OHP numbers.
Don't go hurting yourself on the elliptical. We won't let you live that one down.

Good looking workout today Trent. Those hex bar deads from the lower level sound rough. I've never tried the bar with only that lower level. It definitely looks challenging. I like the decline bench DB Row combo too. Great job all around there man!
If in doubt, squat and run hills. So you walk into the gym and don't know what to do? Then squat and run hills. Have a miserable day at work and want to break someone's neck but aren't sure who's? Then squat and run hills. - Wendler

Thanks Shane. Yeah, taking a year off from heavy squats and deads is the likely culprit. That was still pretty sad though. LOL! Ironically, other than the first few nights, I've gotten more sleep during the last two weeks than I have in a long time. The little guy sleeps great in the Mommaroo... Yeah, better not injure myself on the elliptical or I should officially take up shuffle board.
Thanks Greg. Yeah, didn't even know they had hex bars like that. Came home and noticed that my bar has the knurling on the flat part too. I'd never noticed that before, but doubt I'll be itching to try them... Yeah man, try that decline/row combo. It doesn't disappoint.All-Time PR's and Info:

Intervals/Sprints: Good intervals. I'll tell you though, nothing has come close to sucking as bad as burpees do. I wish I could do those right now...
Alright, off to work. Have a great day!All-Time PR's and Info:

I haven't done these in a while, but I like them. The "smoothness" of the rep reminds me of a Landmine Row where your path is well defined versus maybe a dumbbell press or a barbell press where your bell/bar can travel all over the place. I've actually been playing around with very short rest periods so I need to try that with the ring row: Near max reps, rest 30 sec, near max reps, rest 30 sec, etc.

Great looking workout today Trent. The hex bar deadlift and bench superset was impressive. That Accessory circuit and Conditioning intervals are off the charts man. Nice job!
If in doubt, squat and run hills. So you walk into the gym and don't know what to do? Then squat and run hills. Have a miserable day at work and want to break someone's neck but aren't sure who's? Then squat and run hills. - Wendler

Thanks Payton. Ring Rows are one of my go-to accessory lifts (because of working out in the garage and having limited equipment). I'm with you, if you do them smooth, there is almost no better and more "pure" rowing motion. They are probably second only to a bench supported row or similar. But those are very easy to kip. You can also play around with your foot placement (forward or backward) to pull toward a slightly different direction.
Thanks Shane. I appreciate your offer. Just pop a Claritin and go for it!
Thanks Greg. I'm digging supersetting those lifts. Never thought I would but since I keep it relatively light now, it is manageable.All-Time PR's and Info:

Comments: Ended up staying in town today so I hit up the Y near the office on my lunch break. I was a little tired due to waking up at 4:00AM to the baby crying, but still got it done.
Box Squat: Nothing to write home about. These are still feeling heavy. Need to keep at it and maybe these little tooth pick legs will start pushing some weight again...
Arnold: Thought this would be a good high-volume variation of OHP. Good sets. Probably could have gone to 45's on the last set but wanted to keep the form good.
Pull-ups: Fat = Heavy Pull-ups
Accessory: First time using a Smith Machine in 20 years or so. Thought it would be good for this purpose. That was a good combo. The hack squats and yates rows were done with a plate on each side (bar weighs 19 lbs) and the bar was as far down as it would go. I love the Smith Machine for awkward movements like these because you can shift your feet out a little and it makes the lift go really smooth. The dips and leg raises were done on the same piece of equipment. Back Extensions to finish it up.
Elliptical: Just being an old man on the elliptical. I glanced over at the rowers and they were all taken so I didn't get to lose to Shane today... And I definitely would not have beat him as I was pretty darned exhausted for this one. Beware though my friend, I am coming for your record!

Comments: Good metcon out here in the cold garage this morning. I'll tell you what, walking uphill on a treadmill will burn some daggone calories in a hurry. I was burning 50+ per lap (400m). Got it done. Still wish I could have ran. Oh well...

Nice workout at the Y Trent. Arnold presses are always difficult at the bottom transition and 40 pounds is good weight with those. Even better to hear you had the 45s in the tank.
Nice metcon today. You are right about the treadmill, add some elevation and it is a whole different workout. Especially after doing all those squats.
