People aren't obese and otherwise unhealthy because our sick care system. You're putting the cart before the horse, tardboy. The govt subsidizes the schit out of corn and soy, with the former especially showing up all over our food supply as high fructose corn syrup, which is worse than even sugar to health. There's anything but indifference to disease, quite the opposite.

All that said I'm all ears for details on a base universal system, so long as it doesn't try to be a government monopoly like some mouthbreather psychopaths in government want. We have Medicaid for poor people, free healthcare for current and former government employees, heavily subsidized healthcare for the 20% of Americans in Medicare, so middle class people who are most of the economy and are already paying for those other people may as well have a base level access. Universal healthcare for the basics, private insurance for beyond that seems reasonable. And remove the tether from private health insurance and jobs, make it all individual/family based.
