Have done. It won't do much of anything for the lower back. It's just that much of a beeyatch to strengthen, without loading up. I've done a lot of calisthenics-type stuff (as well as lifting), and I know this all too well.
And, being human, we are meant to lift and carry loads, use tools, and so on. It's as natural as breathing, walking, speaking, and the like.
Therefore, while I agree that bodyweight work has its uses, I don't believe in limiting oneself to it, unless there's literally no other option... in which case, go for it, and best of luck.
Incidentally, I still like doing a lot of closed kinetic chain exercises... with weight.Last edited by MichaelCJ; 12-20-2012 at 04:37 AM. Reason: words 'round the wrong way, heh

I Don't have anything against calisthetics. I do plan on adding some every once in a while. However people that come and preach about it and ingnoring its clear drawbacks bug me.
1500 bw squats or 400 pistols is not necesserely what I would call hard work, jsut a lot of repetitive work with not enough resistance hence why you need to do absurb number of reps to get the muscle somewhat exhausted."Do not subordinate fundamental principles to minor details."

i gues we can make it harder every time
i can't do this but my big bro use me as a weight ... i go up on top of his neck and he do squats and even some pistol squats
he is 6.3 feet 236 pounds .. what i'm saying is there are so many ways and so many things we can use !!
anyway .. i'm not against doing weighted squats ..

Op quit being a troll and change the fake profile pic and quit upping your crap
This is the real OP (posted by him on a previous thread) note the long arms from the shoulder to the elbow. Also notice his neck and skinny back
This is OP (video posted by OP) notice again his long arms and his face!!
And then there is this pic who he "claims" is him. Notice the much shorter arms, necks do not match from above pics along with the face that does not match! and lets not forget about the tatoo that he says is a "fake one"
am I wrong people?

Depends on the goals... If the primary goal were to get shredded, and leg size didn't matter, it's deffinitely doable.
I've seen guys get their upper body very big doing body-ups etc down here on the beach.
As I stated in another thread though, even though you can do pistols and bulgarian split squats.... I can't figure a way to replicate the deadlift with bodyweight. Squat you can, sort of, by making it a 1 leg movement and increasing range of motion.
