A bit of a tasteless post at this time, EP, I think...
Edit: said tasteless, meant bad timing in essence. I don't mean to cause a stir.Last edited by trimble006; 12-16-2012 at 08:56 PM.

Bad timing perhaps though? Maybe that's my Canadian gun experience coming out... but to throw in a picture of your kid, around the age of 20 kids that were just killed in a massive gun spree, in the middle of a conversation full of condolences without mentioning your own, and suggesting you need to buy him another gun... Is a little mind blowing to me?!
I respect and am open to views on pretty much anything including guns. I don't think guns kill people, people with guns kill people. I just seriously thought it was strange timing to throw that in there. Once again, likely just my inexperience with guns due to location, national laws, gun culture here, and upbringing without even toy guns.
EP, even though I stand by my post(just a weird timing thing, nothing personal), it's great to see you teaching your son about guns properly. You genuinely sound like a great father while teaching him, and even the people surrounding you two at the range sound like great support for him as he learns. Keep up the good work.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #54 ▪█─────█▪

I really appreciate the civilized way that disagreements are expressed here. It's part of why I frequent this site with the little time I have.

Nothing here to really argue about....you have an opinion and i understand. However, there are parts of our country that you may not ever understand....hell, there are people in our country that don't.
I just don't believe there was a correlation until you made it. We talk about many things here and firearms are one of them. He posted videos of him training his son, and i have no issue with that. To condemn him is politically correct and i don't play politically correct word games.
Had he said anything insensitive i would agree.....maybe even if he'd tried to make a anti gun control statement... Although that's a stretch....But there is some validity to letting the dead be buried before we turn it into a football.
Anyway, i don't offer you any ill will, for what that's worth, I just don't agree that his vids were poorly timed or for that matter relevant to the current tragedy in Newtown.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #4 ▪█─────█▪

What happened in CT was awful. Having a six year old I send to school everyday, I dont know what I would do if something happened to him.
Maybe the timing of my post with the current conversation was out of place. I did just wanted to share a trip we had planned for a long time.
Everyone at this event is someone I spoke to on a forum okshooters.com. Michael was using a rifle owned by another member, he had a great time he wants one of his own "not one that kicks to hard the one a lot". I could easily hide away after a tragedy trying to avoid all dangers or go to eat and meet with my local enthusiast and try to enjoy myself. We all had some fun and made it home safely despite all the guns and internet acquaintances.Last edited by ExtremistPullup; 12-16-2012 at 08:11 PM.

Hey EP, all I saw was some good father/son time going on. Teach 'em young to respect the gun and they will not cause any problems down the line. Hell... he looked like he was having a great time. repped.

Good post. Yesterday at the bar watching football with friends, we had a similar conversation. All of us are my age or older and we were discussing how things were regarding guns when we were kids. All of us grew up in more rural areas where guns were prevalent. My one friend reminded me that all of us went to a hunter safety course at the local rod & gun club. It wasn't mandatory but everyone did it. I'd forgotten all about doing that, but I did. They taught us the proper way to handle and use firearms. No one was afraid of guns.
Another friend said they even took their rifle to school in MN if they were going to go hunting after classes. They just put it in their locker!! Now, I know we didn't do that in upstate NY. I recalled how almost everyone had a gun rack in the back window of their truck.
It was just an interesting conversation considering all the "ban guns" rhetoric we've been hearing the past couple days.[]---[] Equipment Crew Member No.19

I don't even know where to start with the whole CT tragedy - I go back and forth from rage to just disbelief.
I suggested homeschooling to my gf regarding our daughter, and surprisingly she came back with the "living in fear let's them win" line that I usually use.
Keet's point about prescription drugs is a very interesting one. I actually take ******** myself for ADD, and find it to be very helpful. But I didn't start taking it till last year. On one hand I am very glad my parents didn't put me on something when I was younger although I do sometimes think I could have done better in college, grad school, and my 20's if I had. I definitely will not be putting my daughter on them at any point. If she wishes to pursue that as an adult, then that is her decision.
On a more positive note, we finally found another house to make an offer on. Offer goes in today, it's a short sale, so hopefully they will at least let us know if they accept the offer so that we can begin the long drawn out process of that nonsense. We know that there are 4-6 offers in already and that they aren't accepting any after 4pm today, so we're going 6.5% over asking, still think it's good value and will be either under or right at market value for the house.
Small split level with a finished basement, and a small one car for my gym - luckily there are already two decent sized sheds in the back for all other stuff. We like the neighborhood and had put an offer on another prop - roughly the same amount and that one needed a lot of cosmetic work and was right at the entrance to the 'hood, this one does not (one area of the kitchen ceiling was coming down over the cabinets - no staining so I don't think it's water, not sure what happened). Nice sized yard though, will make a good stretch for some prowler and yoke work if I get around to getting one or both.Boomer Rep Crew #1

you know, as if being sick and trying to buy a house today wasn't enough...
I sold an expensive belt on ebay last week, i know for sure it was authentic.
Auction ends at 9.30 on Wed, and he asks me to overnight it (which I did not list as an option) then again on Th morning before I even looked at ebay.
I told him no, as I did not have the belt with me at work and I would not get home until after the post office closes,
Then asks me to send it using "his" UPS account by emailing me a label, I said no as this comes up as a common ebay scam.
I told him would get it out the next day on USPS Express if he paid the additional funds for Express - I sent him a paypal invoice and he paid it.
Then he complains that it was not delivered on Friday, but USPS said there was no one there receive it.
Now he is claiming that it is a fake item.
As soon as I read that i immediately reported him, then saw that he too opened a case, so without contacting him about it, I escalated it to ebay that the item is not fake and gave a list of the other trouble he was giving me. I fully expect ebay to screw me and to force me to allow him to return what I am guessing will be a fake, if he returns anything at all.Boomer Rep Crew #1

First of all, i hope i didn't hit too close with my rants on psych drugs. Its a big forum, i should've realized that there are some here that take them or that have their kids take them. I've seen people take them and be fine. I've also seen zombies and like i said, there is evidence they might hurt kids. I was also very disappointed in my kids teacher suggest them in our first conversation on the subject. Seems like they could or should be a last resort.
I also believe firmly that the issue concerning these shootings is a mental health one. We need to amp up security in our schools, but we need to be better about identifying and helping these sick people before they become monsters.
On Ebay.....this is an example of why i don't like them anymore. They have tried to change from an online garage sale....their niche....to an Amazon type product and they're just not as good as Amazon. They've also went so far in the direction of protecting the buyer, that they ignore the fact that buyers can be crooks too.
Unless they have something i can't get anywhere else, i don't use them.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #4 ▪█─────█▪

no no no no no, I think there is a big difference between me taking them as an adult and kids who don't have an actual say in the matter taking them.
Yea I am not looking forward to getting ebay's response on this one. It actually sold for less than I had hoped, so I wouldn't terribly mind getting it back, but I am fearful of him sending something else back to me.Boomer Rep Crew #1

I got my ironmind sandbag in the mail today, and filled it up with sand/perlite (as i wanted it to be somewhat full instead of really baggy), and now I realize what all the people were saying on how hard it is to work with sand. It only weighs ~150lbs (I got the 300lb capactiy bag) and it put me out of breath doing carries up and down 2 sets of small stairs in my breeze way.

I don't think sharing a video of father/son bonding while properly executing safe plinking is in bad taste or at a bad time. EP's videos just proves his priorities during this tragedy are in the right place (with his son enjoying time together).
Also get him a little .22 Ruger▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #56 ▪█─────█▪

Working my way back up to my old weights in bench, did 305x5x5 tonight. A far cry from my 330x5x5, but I've literally worked back up to this weight about 10 times now and I'm ok with that weight considering I'm 15-20lbs lighter and my body is yelling "**** you!" to me. Enough is enough. Even though I feel bloated after barely eating dinner I'm going to go have a giant bowl of oatmeal and drink a 500 calorie shake.
**** you right back, body.[]---[] Equipment Crew Member No.18
