Well actually that's just completely wrong. Skill is not defined by dedication or time spent at a task. Skill is defined as how well you perform a given task. Child Savant Pianists can play the piano better than many adults. Adults who have had thousands of hours of more practice. Nobody would say that the adult was more skilled simply because they had spent more time playing the piano. So, therefore, time spent on an activity does not equal skill.

Similarly we don't look at games of pure chance as involving or requiring skill. You wouldn't say somebody is "skilled" at playing the slot machine just because she spends a lot of time in the casino.

Diablo 3 is a big random slot machine. You kill stuff and it has a chance of dropping good loot. Nothing that you do aside from magic find directly influences what items you're going to get. The RNG loot aspect of D3 is not skill based. And the actual playing aspect's skill cap is laughably low. Most people can master all the mechanics of the game within 10 hours easily.

And yet you seem to equate items and stats with skill. Because otherwise why would we be having this argument? Why else would you call out somebody every 10 pages for lying about their stats? It's clear to me that you have an ego investment in being the "best" Diablo 3 players, and to sustain that feeling of being superior, you constantly need to put down and belittle everyone else in this thread and "assert your Diablo dominance."

Why would you cry about how much less "skilled" botters and RMAHers are? Who cares? As far as I've seen the only person in this thread that continually needs to point out how good he is at Diablo... is you.

The reason dedication and skill are different words is because they're different things. If you actually understood anything about building a business or entrepreneurship you would realize that nine times out of ten success in life and in business is not a matter of how skilled you are at a task, but how dedicated you are to your vision. Again, skill and dedication/time investment... not the same thing at all.

If you wanted to make some argument to make yourself feel better than us botters then dedication would be the way to do it. Tell us we're less dedicated than you at Diablo. That's a very valid point. Maybe you should use that next time instead of claiming to be more skilled. It would make you look less stupid and childish.

Oh come on. Are you really going to sit there and tell us that buying items that are underpriced and then selling them again at their market value requires remarkable levels of skill? I'll grant you that flipping does require skill. But just not very much. Someone who watched the AH movements of a few items for a week would have a really good idea of prices. It's the equivalent of learning three chords on the guitar. Anyone can learn with a few hours and it's not impressive.

news for ya brah, ive logged on about 10mins in the past few days. i've leveled up about 10x in the past 2 months+. ive gotten my serial # botting a week ago and i still havent even leveled them halfway to 60 yet. i have 2m to my name and could give a chit because diablo is just a game at the end of the day and i got more important things to focus on, like trying to get into med school.

though i do agree with you that skill is different than dedication/time investment, you can be skilled at something without any dedication/time investment, like a natural talent, but what i originally specified was "to be at the highest level", so like a nfl player, skill alone isnt enough.

and ofcourse diablo takes skill, some of the top diablo miscers that i mire'd hard back in the days like ufunnybro, chango, shepherd. Granted they played a lot, but so did i and most miscers (when people actually played back in the days) and we were nowhere close to them.
