I tend to only read non-fiction.
Unless it's a classic like...Of Mice and Men, etc...to me, the writers of today are just...ugh. Not good enough.
50 Shades of Grey is not literature; sorry to the critics who are touting that garbage.

I've been thinking about reading that series.
I'm currently reading 50 Shades.
It's utter crap but I started the series and I have to finish.
I'll read just about anything - as evidenced by the above - except for maybe Sci-Fi. Not really into that too much.
I got on a pretty good historical fiction a while back, I enjoyed that.
After 50 Shades I have The Help, Life of Pi, Lolita, Middlesex and a few others.
Sadly I've never read any of the classics - I need to get on that.DAYUM!!!

lol @ captain underpants...brings back painful memories of my daughter when she was younger...at her school book fairs.
she would say...''mommy, you're too serious, sometimes.''
no. i just don't like books that are stupid.
ok, maybe I am.
edit to add...i was an english minor.

I'm happy as long as the boys are reading.
Strong reading and comprehension skills are the foundation of life, IMO, so I'll read Captain Underpants if it means they're reading.
TBH I've loved some of the silly books I've read with my oldest. The Skippy Jon Jones series has to be my favourite.
I get to read it in a Mexican accent - what's not to love!?!?DAYUM!!!

haha no!
let me back up a bit. i do think that the books we read to our kids when they're little...different, than when they get into high school, and the modern day writers are crap.
and silly storylines don't mean that the book is badly written.
i'm talking about along the lines of 50 shades of grey being touted as good literature...
and books that are just badly written.
I have not yet read the Harry Potter series, but my kids and friends of mine have read it, and say it's really good writing...so, might have to try it.
