    Question about the deadlift

I am pretty new to deadlifting and will be able to post a video after my next session but wanted to ask a quick question. If I am progressing in the lift(I am doing 8 reps and started at 125 and am now up to 145 after a few weeks for what I am told is 8 solid reps), but am never sore in my hamstring after the session is this a problem? My glutes, quds and low back always have DOMS from the exercise.

Also, I plan on doing Good mornings and hyperextensions once a week to support the exercise. Thanks forany and all help and take care.

DOMS isn't the sign of a good workout. Just keep at it (with good form) and you'll get stronger.
“The problem with many hypertrophy-based programs is that they leave out the strength component. You might get bigger as a result of the program, but if you don’t get any stronger you’re still a chump in my book. That’s right, I don’t care how big you are, if you aren’t strong you’re a sham. Having big muscles and no strength is the training equivalent of wearing a strap-on. All show and no go. End of story.” - Jim Wendler

Like above said, DOMS is not a good indication of how effective a workout is. However if you're feeling sore everywhere else and not in your hamstrings it could be a form issue, most likely a lack of hip drive.

Make sure your mentally pushing up from the back of your heals through your hamstrings. Wear flat shoes, or just take of your shoes if possible.

If your quads are getting sore, it's probably a sign you are leaning forward too much.

Your hamstrings might be stronger than your quads so they might not be getting challenged. It's probably nothing to worry about but post a vid to be sure. I wouldn't worry about adding assistance work for the deadlift if your new to it. I'd wait until you're struggling to add weight and then work on your weak points.

he is only deadlifting 145, so dont expect a lot of hamstring contribution until he starts to add some weight.

The odds of someones hamstrings being stronger than their quads as an untrained, non-gear using lifter is about zero.
