Express your interest in the topic and ask her for peer-reviewed journal published research in support of her position. You might want to add that you searched for such on your own and could not locate any supporting research, which is why you're asking her for relevant citations.
Just don't be confrontational. Use interest as the reason for your request.

3 weeks wouldn't be long enough to really see liver damage.

It really comes down to what was meant by, "kills the liver." These days that can mean a lot of things. After all, statements like, "My workout was a killer," aren't literal. Your liver is your major processing station for everything, including proteins. Eating a lot of protein means a lot of extra work for the liver. "Work was a killer" means you've had a ton of stuff to do and are tired as a result, no? So, it's quite reasonable to interpret, "kills the liver" as "it gives the liver a ton of stuff to do."
Seek clarification.
