Nut misc, help me choose a new (used)car

    sup guys,
Currently driving: 2006 Acura RSX Type-s
Estimated KBB value for trade in:13,375
    Other cash saved up: $1500

I do like my car and there are no issues with it, but the New Jersey winters have sucked lately and this car is awful in the snow I'm looking for some type of SUV with 4wd, doesn't have to be flashy, just ~$15,000.I'm not looking to finance a car, rather buy one and not have to worry about monthly payments

    Thanks for the help

You could find a used Explorer or Grand Cherokee in that range. Or you could go the route of AWD sedans. For example you could prob find an Audi A4 in that price range in 2006 model, even possibly an A6 depending on the amount of miles. This way you still have some sport performance as well as better handling in the winter. Trust me I know winter driving. We got over 200inches last year where I live.

Ultimately you could just keep your current car and put some Blizzak's on it. They are the world's greatest snow tire and they will cost about 1/2 of what you have saved up after install.

Dam, great info, I'll be sure to get you off spread. I never even considered audi before, but seems interesting. I'm just going to have to do a bit of my own research in terms of reliability since I cant afford having my car in the shop all the time.

Don't waste your money on Audi (re-badged VW's) or Jeep (horible American car production). They break down frequently.

Look into Honda or Toyota's SUV's: 4Runner, Highlander, etc. Way more dependable and much better built.

I have had 10+ cars so far in my life from pick ups to sports cars and I will never buy anything but Japanese again.
The above statement/post does not represent the opinions of anyone in real life. This is the internet. Not real life. Anyone who cannot grasp the difference between the two lacks the basic intelligence necessary for survival and should not be allowed to form opinions.

Yea, I never considered audi, I just thought he had an interesting idea. I really like Jeeps but I always hear about poor reliability. I was looking at rav-4 but it seems kinda girly, idk though

I dont disagree with you. Just trying to stay within his price range. I have a 2007 camry with 130k on it. I got the car with 30k. It is still the exact same time I turn the ignition. Taking it further I even pull a pop up camper with it for the past two summers and it is just the 4 cylinder engine. I am taking that car to 250k.

You could also just sign up for 1 month on Consumer Reports. Last I checked it cost $6. You can browse back at least 5yrs to look at reliability reviews, etc. That is how I narrowed my choice on car.

Jeeps break down because people beat the fck out of them and treat them like toys. Buy an 06 Rubicon and laugh at people while you are cruising down a 2' snowfall going 30.

I'd stick with a sedan and just use snow tires in the winter. I live in the mountains & that's what I've done for years
