At this point, the coach doesn't matter. There is a common denominator here, and its name is York. The 49ers will never be consistent contenders playing with York money. If they win anything it will be despite their management, not because of it.
The Yorks need to realize that their "business" moves are sabotaging the value of their franchise and shop around for a buyer before their stadium deal collpases. Then they won't be able to even give the team away.
There are a lot of young, stupidly wealthy, arrogant dot commers in the Bay Area (Mark Zuckerberg comes to mind) who would love nothing more than to throw their money around and prove to the NFL's good ol boys club that they can swing it with the best.Oh My... U are not one of us. U are not meant for this world. Heaven is ur world lol

Stanford's proposal to keep Harbaugh eclipsed the 49ers offer including all bonuses. Stanford, MIA, SF and Denver all still in the hunt
...I get a crazed billionaire paying a guy way too much but how the hell can we be outbid by a college team?

If Harbaugh goes back to Stanford I really doubt it's because of money.

Jesus, where to begin
Cliffs:
- Harbaugh (Stanford coach) met with 49ers all day yesterday
- Dolphins flew in on a private jet last minute to snatch Harbaugh
- Harbaugh met with Dolphins today, who are offering almost twice what the Niners are
- Dolphins owner left Bay, flew to LA, and is now en route back to Miami
- Stanford reportedly upped their offer beyond the Niners offer
- Denver trying to meet with HarbaughOh My... U are not one of us. U are not meant for this world. Heaven is ur world lol

Russell Wilson, the first QB in NFL history to throw a game-winning interception.

They weren't just skirting the Rooney rules...they were just being mad shady.
This is such horse****. You cock block another team and THEN you realize the guy you never fired is the best choice? Really? Was a ****ing trip across the United States necessary?
They should be docked draft picks for being stupid douche bags!
Yes Mad!
I think if they never got involved we would've already had the press conference. Now it's quite possible he goes back to Stanford or even gets a BJ from Elway and goes there.

RT @jcashen87: I think it is between Stanford and SF. ... I don't see 49ers as viable alternative at this time.
How ridiculous is this front office? We can't compete with ****ing Stanford?

i really think he is going to stay at stanford now that luck is staying. like the poster above said, it was all a ploy to get more money from stanford.

I don't know, Carroll's an assclown but he used to be an NFL coach before he joined USC. Harbaugh's never had the experience of coaching an NFL franchise and he seems like the uber-competitive type who won't settle just for college glory and pro mediocrity. Now that the Dolphins have backed the **** off, I think Harbaugh is trying to do everything he can to create leverage to pull a higher salary out of York ultimately.
If not and he actually is going back to Stanford, then I'll be less mad then if he had joined the Dolphins although at this point its hard to see his stock climbing any higher. He's an injury to Luck, or a bad season in general away from having his stock plummeting down.
EDIT-
Jay Glazer reports that the "strong signal" out of San Francisco is that Jim Harbaugh is in "strong" talks with the Niners to get a deal done tonight that would pay him over $6 million per year.
Our View: Sure. Why not? The reports surrounding the Harbaugh situation have whirled in about 100 directions today, and it's anybody's guess as to what he'll actually do. Miami's record offer was turned down, and QB Andrew Luck's return to Stanford would seemingly make the university an attractive option for Harbaugh. Of course, he still has a scheduled interview with the Broncos, so we'd be surprised if he actually made a decision tonight. Actually, scratch that. At this point, nothing about this story would be surprising.
Jay Glazer says its on like Donkey Kong tonight, 49ers and Harbaugh trying to wind down a deal for 6 mil a piece.Russell Wilson, the first QB in NFL history to throw a game-winning interception.

I still hope they sign him but I'm becoming very desensitized to the whole situation. Back and forth these stories go and where they'll stop we'll never know.
To take us slightly off topic for a second here's a decent background article on Baalke
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slu...ninersgm010611
Here's hoping the article is a good indicator of what he has to bring to the table and not a usual puff piece for any new hire that always comes out.
I'm sure at one point we saw one of these for Terry Donahue(vomit), it pains me to remember that our very own Bill Walsh hand picked that jerkoff.
