I will give you the facts on diet soda: Diet Soda has fake sugars in it, which adds to belly fat.
All sugar, natural or fake rapidly increases belly fat if you have too much. Stop drinking it.
Calories aren't as bad as put out there, but what else is nutritional on top of the calories is bad.
Calories are units of energy, if your eating a 1500 calorie big mac, your eating 1500 calories of energy which are stored until burned and used, calories are like fuels.
Stay away from all sugars, and heres something to lose weight fast:
Keep yourself at maybe a 500-1000 Calorie limit a day, and less than 15grams of sugar a day and you will see quick results...
Please, tips on my posts? Appreciated.

Closer to 600 calories with half of those calories from fat. ****load of fat grams and saturated fat grams.
The big mac hits you hardest when you order it as a meal.
1 big mac 600 cals 50 g fat
1 med fry 450 cals 22 g fat
1 med coke 220 cals
Now we're talking 1300 cals and 75ish g fat in one sitting. Stay away.

i know that having no calories means that diet soda will not affect weight loss but consider some of the other stuff thats in it. most diet soda that i know of have aspartame in it, which is nasty stuff. (aspartame is also found in a lot of the flavored protein blends and other supplements as a sweetener)
www . mercola . com / article / aspartame / dangers . htm for example (sorry for extra spaces i cant post links yet)

i AGREE, the zero might have 0 calories but there is something not right about it. water or green tea all day long, i think if you allow yourself to drink things like that then your gonna get a sweet tooth and allow other not so good things into your diet eventually. keep it clean and drop that fat properly is what i say, dont drink something you aint sure about...just my opinion

Phosphoric acid in coke zero needs to be balanced out in the body since the body needs to be ph neutral. To balance out, the body uses iodine already in our system (which is alkaline) to neutralize all the acid. Unfortunately that diverts the iodine from it's other purpose which is to maintain our thyroid, which in turn is what keeps our metabolism in check.
Remember the old saying, "Nothing in life is free." In other words: zero calories, zero sugars, zero whatever, doesn't mean zero concerns.
As said previously, water and green tea are best. The occasional coke zero won't alter anything but those of you who think that multiple sodas a day are not an issue are only fooling yourselves. If it has worked for you it is most likely because your diet, exercise, metabolism and genetics are compensating for the effects of the soda.NO! Try not. Do or do not. Not true at all. Any calories from carbs or fats that go unused are stored as fat.
No sugars will specifically cause belly fat. Just like you can't spot reduce fat, you can't spot gain fat.
As long as his caloric expenditure is below his maintenance, he won't gain fat.
As for artificial sweeteners, coming from some books and articles I used for a research paper (I don't have them handy at the moment), this is what I have found:
The only artificial sweetener that contains any calories is Aspartame; BUT, because its sweetness index is so high, there is never enough of it used at one time to create a caloric impact on one's diet.
Saccharin (Sweet 'N Low) provides no energy.
Acesulfame Potassium and Sucralose are not even broken down or absorbed by the body, so I don't see how they can contribute to ANY fat gain.
I don't even know what this means...
A big mac has 1500 calories? Maybe three big macs.
Do NOT avoid all sugars. You can still cut with carbs in your diet. It's not difficult. If you do choose to avoid all sugars, good luck. There are sugars in tons of things, including fruits, vegetables, protein shakes, etc.
Most certainly do NOT have a 500-1000 calorie limit for the day. Unless you are very experienced in bodybuilding or have the muscle to sacrifice for this, I believe no one should go below 1500 calories per day, and that is still pushing it, IMO. If someone were to only eat 1000 calories, in order to preserve muscle it has to be primarily (or completely) protein.
Granted, you did say to do that in order to lose weight fast, but the OP probably doesn't have the kind of muscle to sacrifice. Hell, most people don't, myself included.
I don't mean to rip on this guy for posting this, but there were many misconceptions in his post.
At the end of the day, calories in vs. calories out. It works.--------------------------------------------------------

any tea regular or green is just fine just use splenda. Fizzy drinks, including soda pop and spritzers, increase bloating because the carbon dioxide trapped in the bubbles creates gas, which slows down stomach emptying. They also contain a butt load of sodium.
The possibility that green tea helps with weight loss has been a recent topic in the media. What is the potential role of tea in helping maintain healthy weight? Unsweetened, fresh-brewed tea, both black and green has no sodium, no sugar, no fat and virtually no calories, yet tea is a satisfying, aromatic beverage. This makes tea an ideal choice for a weight control plan that is part of a healthy lifestyle, especially when substituting for other sugar sweetened beverages. Another factor to potentially helping maintain a healthy weight is that regular tea contains caffeine which has been shown to increase energy expenditure (number of calories burned)(17,18). In a study, published in the Journal of Nutrition, consumption of 3-4 servings of oolong tea was shown to increase energy expenditure and the rate of fat breakdown. In addition, subjects drinking tea spent energy at a 3% faster rate and burnt about 70 more calories a day than those consuming water (57).
Some emerging research on energy expenditure conducted with tea and tea extracts has suggested that increases in metabolism and rate of fat breakdown may not be solely due to caffeine in the tea. One study measuring the effect of green tea extract on energy expenditure in people showed that drinking either caffeinated water or tea extract significantly increased the number of calories burned, but in addition the rate of fat breakdown was significantly higher for participants drinking tea extract than those drinking the caffeinated water(58). In a second study researchers looked at group of flavonoids in tea and its effect on weight loss and body fat. They found significant weight loss and a significant reduction in total body fat in the people drinking tea flavonoids (equal to 3-4 cups of tea per day) when compared to participants drinking the placebo (66).
While this is active area of research; the preliminary evidence suggests the tea drinking can increase energy expenditure and fat burning. However, there are no conclusive studies that tea drinking has beneficial effects on weight loss. Still, tea is a satisfying, calorie-free beverage that can be substituted for sweetened beverages and is a delicious alternative to plain water in a healthy weight management plan.Owner- Muscledfreakz.com
