So, what amazes me in this product is that this has viagra-like effects.
375 mg of White Willow Bark, Bombyx Mori L, Ginger Root, Codyceps Extract, Horny Goat Weed, Oyster Extract, Green Coffee Bean Extract, Vinpocentine, 2DG, Saffron Crocus, Wolfberry. So they say...
Obviously, the effects this supplement has (the wanted effects and the side effects) are clearly caused by PDE-5 inhibition. Horny Goat Weed (actually, icariin, the active substance in HGW) does that, but not to the extent HPSS does. We would need a huge ammount of icariin to achieve that.
If you combine arginine with icariin (which I suggest you don't do), you'll have stronger and mainly longer lasting erections, but that's possibly a dangerous combination.
Viagra, Cialis and Levitra should not be combined with NO drugs (like those used by people with coronary heart disease). Obviously, combining these drugs is a LOT different than combining icariin with arginine (because in this last case the doses used are much less significant).
So, as I said, Higher Power Sexual Surge acts exactly like Cialis/Levitra/Viagra (including the exact same kind of wanted effects, side effects, duration and mechanism of action).
In my humble opinion, HPSS is either laced with a compound similar to Sildenafil OR one of its substances (besides HGW) has a strong PDE-5 inhibitor action (HGW is not enough at that low dosage). Problem is, none of the ingredients has been connected with PDE-5 inhibition thus far (except for HGW). In fact, the list of ingredients is quite ridiculous (it doesn't have any of those substances that are known to have potential sexual benefits, like Maca, Damiana, Muira Puama, Arginine and Ornithine, Ginseng, Gingko Biloba, Avena Sativa, Tribulus Terrestris, Eurycoma Longifolia... HGW is the exception). Well, perhaps some of the ingredients in the product contain arginine, it is possible (but it would be at low dosage).
I would like to "hear" what Higher Power representatives have to say about this. I've done a search and I haven't found out what I want to know.

I've never taken this product, but I've seen dozens of reviews and most people mention strong headaches. Also, I have 2 friends who have taken this and said this worked great except for the strong side effects they would get hours later.
This is certainly laced and I don't expect HP representatives to say "Yes it is".
So, if I'm wrong, please prove me wrong. And forget that "Oh this product has been tested"!! Aspire36 was also tested, according to Palo Alto representatives...DoN'T Be a FooL... WRaP YouR TooL!

Of course it works very well. It you take Viagra or Cialis, it will work well too.
It amazes me that this product is taking so long to be taken off the market. Higher Power is lying to their customers and the consequences of this could be someone dying for trying what seems to be an "all natural herbal" (thus safe) supplement.
For some reason drugs like Viagra, Cialis or Levitra need a prescription.DoN'T Be a FooL... WRaP YouR TooL!

Maybe not PDE-5 related, but saffron has a positive effect on potency:
Evaluation of Crocus sativus L. (saffron) on male erectile dysfunction: a pilot study.Shamsa A, Hosseinzadeh H, Molaei M, Shakeri MT, Rajabi O.
Urology Department, Ghaem Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Mashhad, Iran.
In this study, the effect of Crocus sativus (saffron) was studied on male erectile dysfunction (ED). Twenty male patients with ED were followed for ten days in which each morning they took a tablet containing 200mg of saffron. Patients underwent the nocturnal penile tumescence (NPT) test and the international index of erectile function questionnaire (IIEF-15) at the start of the treatment and at the end of the ten days. After the ten days of taking saffron there was a statistically significant improvement in tip rigidity and tip tumescence as well as base rigidity and base tumescence. ILEF-15 total scores were significantly higher in patients after saffron treatment (before treatment 22.15+/-1.44; after treatment 39.20+/-1.90, p<0.001). Saffron showed a positive effect on sexual function with increased number and duration of erectile events seen in patients with ED even only after taking it for ten days.Olympus Labs/Lyfestyle Research & Development (R&D) Director

Interesting idea, but saffron is really expensive. A quick google search led me to find a price of about $1,000 per pound. This is roughly $2,200 per kilogram (1 kilogram is about 2.2 pounds). This means that 1 milligram of saffron is about $2.20 and that 200 milligrams of saffron would run you about $440. That's a pretty expensive little pill.

There is a very easy rule of thumb: if something works like viagra, then it most likely ....(finish the sentence by your own)
as with regards to saffron: that study measured a chronic effect. PDE-5 inhibitors have acute effects.Last edited by DR_P; 09-04-2009 at 11:35 AM.

no problem and good find btw. I was not aware of saffron previously.
nonetheless, to return to OP's initial problem: whenever a OTC supplement with a rather "non-spectacular" composition is classes better than anything OTC and rivals pharmaceutical drugs, then experience tell us that it is most liekly laced. this applies to penis-enhancement products, appetite-suppressants, "rapid fat-loss"-supplements etc. the literature is FULL of studies that show dozens and dozens of adulterated supplements.
The psychological phenomenon is that consumers aren't dumb at all but they actually WANT to be lied and want to believe that the new peppermint extract is actually better than an overdose of Viagra and that 20 mg of Tyrosine-CEE are really as potent as amphetamine. People are eagerly waiting for someone to come and tell these fairy tales, they even pay money for them. and, of course, there are lots of good businessmen who say to themselves: heck, if that guy wants to pay 50 bucks only that I tell him how Goji Berries will give him 4 hour-lasting erections, then I'll take the money.
Well, I am not stating that the said product is necessarily tainted. I don't know this product, nor do I care what it is or which brand it is. I am just speaking generally and from general experience about what is likely and what is not likely to be true.

Because you don't have to be a genius to understand that a product that acts the exact same way (wanted effects, duration of effects, side effects and duration of side effects) that one of the well known prescription drugs (Viagra, Cialis or Levitra) is certainly laced with one of the PDE-5 inhibitors.
If you don't believe it (I am not talking to you in particular, I mean you as people in general), you're either stupid or really naive.DoN'T Be a FooL... WRaP YouR TooL!

No, I am complaining that you have a product with a list of ingredients that is totally FALSE. Higher Power acts because it is laced with a PDE-5 inhibitor.
If not used the right way, people may die by taking a strong PDE-5 inhibitor. It is writen in the literature and I wouldn't have to read it in order to know it. People should know how to take it and what they shouldn't use along with the PDE-5 inhibitor. Certain drugs CANNOT be taken the same day (sometimes, up to 36 hours).
In theory, Higher Power Sexual Surge could be taken by some guy with history of angina or some guy who is taking nitrates for some reason. That is, IF WE WERE TO BELIEVE THE LIST OF INGREDIENTS. What happens though is that that list is FALSE. The product is laced with a PDE-5 inhibitor, thus making it an absolute contra-indication for some people.DoN'T Be a FooL... WRaP YouR TooL!

I care not if this product works or not. Obviously it will work. Same way Viagra or Cialis work.
What I am saying here is that HPSS is laced. A 4 year old boy knows that. It might not make any difference if a 22 year old healthy guy takes it, but if a 50 year old man with cardiovascular disease takes it, HE SHOULD KNOW WHAT HE IS TAKING.
Can't you understand that? By having a false list of ingredients, HPSS is lying to their customers and jeopardising their safety. It doesn't matter if this makes your dick grow to 20 inches long! It might be the best sexual supplement in the world, yet by lying about the ingredients list, the safety of their clients is jeopardised. And that should not be accepted by any circumstance!
I'm astonished as how some of you guys find it so hard to understand this...DoN'T Be a FooL... WRaP YouR TooL!
