49.99
49.00
50.00
Which of these actually catch someones eye for a personal training session? There isn't much of a difference in dollar value, but i noticed people go for the 49.99 or 49.00 and not the 50.00. Do you guys and ladies experience the same thing? Why is it 49.99 seems more appealing than 50.00?
To me it's all $50 since i always round up. What's a dollar or penny more? It must be a marketing strategy, and it seems to work. I always charged even numbers, and maybe i should now start charging odd numbers

I consider this the best notion for several reasons.
First, it looks more calculated, personal, and professional. It seems each dollar is accounted for in the billing.
Second, customers will want to consider the saving and cost effectiveness of multiple sessions, making the whole service seem more like a "deal"
Lastly, customers will be more inclined to register for multiple sessions than deciding to "sign up for more later" when its a flat rate
As for the 49.99 vs 50.00. The first digit is what matters, and lower is better! Look at gas prices that go to relatively useless 10ths of a cent.

Some people may want to pay in cash; so stay away from the $0.99 stuff. Even corporate gyms stick to round numbers anymore.
I say either $49 or $50; leaning towards $50. $50 is a nice round number that says "this is my price". $49 seems like it's "priced to move".
Just my $0.02... which rounds to $0Professional Fitness Trainer

IMO selling a certain number of sessions is backwards. Reason being that most clients will use up there allottment and not come back. I see it all the time at the gym where I workout.
You need to create a sense of urgency, then let them know how you can help, then sell them 1 session a week at $XX, 2 sessions a week at $YY, 3 sessions a week at $ZZ. ( the more sessions per week they buy the lower the cost per session.) That way you will have a chance to work with them for an indefinite period of time. If you are worth the $$$$ they will stick around and you will sell more than "20" sessions & you will not have to RE-SELL them anything.
Plus, if you help them change or progress you will have other members notice(great advertising) & the client will let others know how pleased they are(more great advertising), & having a steady/consistent client base will be noticed long term, thus leading to more clients in the future.Last edited by labradarep; 06-24-2009 at 07:35 AM.
