I had that same thing, a cheap valeo belt, it would pop off because the lil hucks would turn backwards when i would put it on too tight or whatnot.
Ive tried this new belt, way thicker, way more sturdy and same size all the way around, doesnt taper up or down, anyway when i used that belt my squat went up like 10-15lbs so its definitly something to invest in.

put a 2 and a half plate underneath and the plates slide right on. Then just roll the bar and kick the small plate out before your set. works like a charm.
Also, I usually agree with you on here and am a fan my man (no homo). BUT you and myself doing 585 (our bodies and strength are scary similar) is MUCH different than coleman.
i worked out with coleman 2 years ago at worlds in columbus in worthington, oh with coleman, his cousin lloyd, and a guy named marvin who is a national level competitor. Coleman just started working out again 3 weeks earlier and did 405 22 times at the end of a back workout, then 495 around 12 times. It was VERY VERY easy.
So 585 isn't "epic" persay i agree and your very strong. But coleman did his 800 pounds reps like you and I do 585.
weird that should have been posted in teh ifbb thread...sorry
