Not sure we have enough lifters competing in this section to make "most improved" work... most seem to be new lifters trying to get form down.
We could definitely have a "Virtual Olympic Lifting Competition", which could just be best gym/competition lifts at a given bodyweight, ranked by Sinclair score. Video evidence would be encouraged, but not mandatory.
Best total isn't very meaningful in Olympic lifting since the larger lifters would dominate. The weight classes are very finely delineated in Olympic lifting, much more so than powerlifting. It's almost (but not quite) unheard of for a lifter of a particular class totalling more than the winner of a higher class (Vardanian, Sulymanoglu are notable exceptions and complete freaks of nature).
We wouldn't even need to divide up into Bodyweight classes; just list the weight you were when you made the lifts and the Sinclair takes care of the rest!
Example
Name...............Bodyweight..........Sn/C+J..........Sinclair (age-adjusted)
Madaozeki.......... 61.5kg..................81/100............281.277
You can calculate your Sinclair here:
Sinclair Calculator
I could volunteer to organize the thread and do the rankings, etc.
If you're only power-snatching or power-cleaning, that's OK too!
We could start it as a PR thread with rankings in the first post, and then come up with awards by the end of the year as people improveLast edited by madaozeki; 01-01-2009 at 08:09 AM.

Great Idea!!
Name...............Bodyweight..........Sn/C+J..........Sinclair(age-adjusted)
Madaozeki.......... 61.5kg..................81/100............281.277
Mr Ben....................93kg..................84/100............209.268
The year in the topic title should probably be changed to 2009 if we were to start this up.
Once we get more members willing to participate we can give awards (reps) every couple of weeks/months for certain categories.
Highest Sinclair
Best overall total
Best total - by weightclass/bodyweight
Holding a #1 ranking for x amount of time (days, weeks, etc)
Best improvement - (monthly)
Personally, I think video footage should be required when you post a new max, but I realize not everyone might have a camera so we can have a poll for this later.

Well, total is important as the overall strongest, as well as Sinclair, hence my suggestions of both. That way overall strongest gets the recognition for it as well as best by coefficient. Same way in PL'ing, honestly, but this way there is something for everyone.
And yes, power versions of lifts are fine, since they are comp legal.
This thread is for what people have alread done, because this section does not get as much attention as some of the other ones. Largely because it is quieter.
See below.
If you tie, lighter bodyweight lifter wins.
Virtual comp for PLing thread:
http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hp?t=113028291
Will be less work, since there are no where near as many lifters here.
Madaozeki - thread is all yours, thanks. We can discuss awards as well. I would say no more than every three months, IMO.

CHS55 - Keep in mind my Sinclair is age-adjusted since I'm a Master's lifer! I we were the same age you'd be well ahead

In case people aren't aware, the Sinclair is a co-efficient adjustment that's supposed to indicate the weight you would lift if you were a Super-Heavyweight. So in my case, my Sinclair is around 280, which means if I were a Super-Heavyweight my equivalent lifts would be something like 125/155.

Since there are not that many entrants, we will stick with Sinclair only. I like things simple.
You cannot keep editing the top post of any thread. After 24 hours, only a mod of that section can do so. So we can start a new thread for the rankings, and then just PM me with edits to the OP. It will become a sticky here.

nice thread, I have a meet next week where I'll be posting my first total in my new weight class (85's), I'll probably weigh in at 81-83kg or so, my squat is stronger than when I was a 94 and I'm power cleaning 80kg for reps and I've hang snatched 65kg so hopefully my little weights will be a little less pathetic by comparison next week, lol'Prior to the Department of Education, there was no illiteracy'

thanks, I feel less fat as an 85 too though my coach has said at my height I could be a 105, lol; hand injury among other things forced me to stop training for 3 months so I lost like 12kg or so, lol, I'm just trying to get up to your lifts, lol, crackyflipside is already there also as a real light 85 and a teammate of ours is getting close as a 69, definetly depressing and inspiring at the same time, haha

damn, i'm the fattest m-fer who here doing weightlifting.
maybe I should take a few months off powerlifting and train for a USAW meet... although i dunno if I can do a snatch anymore...I'd probably have to get my labrum repaired to allow that.*Mods/CS will not, nor can they change your username, so don't ask*

I just (finally) watched your NorCal meet vid. Looks like you've got decent enough flexibility based on your back squat to clean without any trouble. How bad does an overhead position feel? It'd be cool to see what sorts of numbers you can put up. I'm guessing in the neighborhood of 105/145 without too much trouble!
Also, I've trained with plenty of Olympic lifters bigger than you, including one who was almost exactly 3x my bodyweight at one point. He's since dropped 40lbs and I've gained over 20, so that no longer applies, but it was fun while it lasted!

oh i can put a barbell over my head, i c&j'd 245lbs yesterday after my full workout just for fun.
my snatch technique just blows and i tore up my right labrum a while back so my shoulders don't want to be extended in that position anymore.
i can still do cleans pretty well though, if i started training them again seriously I could probably go for 150-160kg within a few months.*Mods/CS will not, nor can they change your username, so don't ask*

Hmmm well maybe rehabbing the shoulder or repairing the labrum take precedence over working with a coach on your snatch technique! Still, it'd be cool to see you at least working HEAVY cleans (without the jerk). Who knows... maybe they'd give you a change of pace enough to have a positive effect on your powerlifts? Stranger things have happened...
