not me but isn't Led Zep more assosciated with humbuckers?
nice set up, cool to see manual pedals instead of a multi FX unit, even though they are amazing (multi FX units).
yeah i put all my eggs in one basket at the moment with a guitar, hoping to get a second electric guitar relatively soonOverthinking, overanalysing separates the body from the mind

Do you have a preference for pedals over digital FX now?
Line-6 and Axe FX have really impressed the hell out of me and I think they could be better than analogue. The effects are top notch, like the reverbs and delay are right up there wiht the best pedals. They emulate faithfully a heck of alot of gear. Routing flexibility and presets are incredible compared to a pedalboard.
Really convenient for home recording too, and the amount of tweakbility and flexibility, jesus, it could satisfy even the most autistic audiophile.
What is the argument for using pedals, excluding things like sentimentality or just liking physical feel of tapping things with foot etc?Back off, Warchild.
Seriously.

I'd highly recommend the AKG240 series....they have several models.
Sweetwater & Amazon have them
I've been tracking with my AKG240DFs for 20+ years and I've done lots of original recordings. (50+ at this time)
Plus, flat frequency response too IIRC.
Unlike many here, I never mix on phones....only for tracking and soloing tracks to clean up/delete any artifacts.
I mix on Tascam S1010m's first at low volume.
If I think the mix is close on those I'll monitor on my KRK Rockit 8's at moderate volume.
But, that's just me so to each their own process.
Carry on.Last edited by Wayne Evans; 09-05-2024 at 02:35 PM.

Yep, the 650's are open. I prefer them over my closed backs for critical listening and I record direct so I don't need isolation.
I suspect like most things it comes down to personal preference. But, it's important to pay attention to frequency response and "colour" of your transducers. The 650's are pretty flat and my monitors are "reference" and calibrated.

ahh yeah I getcha. I just like the idea of having some closed backs because I use amp aims at the moment, yeah Sennheisers seem like a great option. Tbh I'm not planning on using amp aims for that long because of the latency. I'll pick up some entry level Audio Technicas I think for now and save up for the Senns

I think having options is key!
I'm no pro and only my family and friends hear my recordings. But, I like cool audio gear and it's a fun hobby.
I'll check out rough mixes on stereo systems throughout the house as well.
Imo, you should start looking at/saving for some open backs, closed backs, and studio monitors.
I sometimes track with sims as well (NAM). If your computer can keep up, a smaller buffer (512/1024) reduces the latency a lot.
Better yet, always capture a dry DI, so you can re-amp
