guys like Buff and Disco were great in their roles at WCW. Alex Wright, all those mid card dudes with pretty straightforward characters but nailed them perfectly.
Buff in WWE, tough time to be joining. that was such a suddenly bloated roster. You have to assume WWE was looking for reasons to cut people and Bagwell apparently gave them a few depending on which podcast/interview you listen to.

buff wishes he got kennedy's shaft. he would've sold his mama to be kennedy's batty boy like hbk was
buff was done by the time he had his wwe match. he was bloated, balding and had too much size for his frame compared to his peak look. yea he was set up for failure with the chit being in tacoma, but if that was ddp against booker, you know dallas would've found a way to have a solid match.heart also wants what the dick wants

Sounded like his attitude stunk.
Buff was an upper mid card guy, I found him entertaining enough in WCW but he was hardly someone the WWF couldn't afford to miss out on, he should have behaved himself.
DDP got screwed worse, he could have done main event business for a couple of years but WWF literally killed his career early, he had a good attitude as well.
Booker T was another who they humiliated and watered down, he put up with so much for years until they gave him a comedy heel run with the secondary world title.
Pretty much everyone from WCW with the exception of Hulk got screwed by Vince, the one I feel bad for the most was Scott Hall who had gotten clean and it was his last chance at a meaningful run and vince tore it up because Austin threw a tantrum and refused to do a job in basically a handicap match.

Not sure have ever seen anyone step up to the plate to defend the idea of Buff having any value post WCW after he showed up sloppy as sh*t and still battling the addictions that lead him to DDP in recent years.
Also it’s fascinating to see folks still not up to speed on the reality of the WCW contracts of the time that made it more advantageous for most of their top stars to sit at home, and thus the invasion angle was already doomed from hitting full potential.

If I recall right, Buff's old WCW contract wasn't much longer once Vince bought WCW. So Buff rushed to volunteer to get back to work. Could he have been better? Sure, but he didn't look THAT bad, and he was only 31 at the time. Dude still had time to get back up to speed if they wouldn't have just canned his ass so fast. What amazes me is how Vince screwed just about every former WCW guy over, yet WWE homers from the time can't put that into consideration when it comes to how Buff was treated.
