Streets or roads named after them. They'd also appear in the art of their currency. If Yasuke is revered in Japanese history he would have gotten at least some of that.

It is not clear whether he was an official samurai or just a retainer.

The main source of basically everyone who believes that Yasuke was an official samurai is a book called African Samurai by Thomas Lockley. In there, Lockley states Yasuke's samurai status as a matter of fact. What most people fail to mention though is that book is romanticized. Think Records of the Three Kingdoms - A detailed historical account of the Three Kingdoms period in China, but what became mainstream and popular is The Romance of the Three Kingdoms - a romanticized version, because the historically accurate one was a boring read. African Samurai falls more into the category of The Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

If you research deep enough, you'll find no evidence to prove or disprove Yasuke being an official samurai. The only thing we know for a fact is that he existed and served Oda Nobunaga for about a year and he stayed in Japan for three years. He had dark skin. Some accounts say that he had the strength of 10 men. His height was also recorded. He also got a house from Nobunaga. Other than that, not much is known about him.

Which leads me to believe that he wasn't officially a samurai. Historians during those times were not slackers. They recorded details even down to the number of swords in the armory. A black man, obviously stood out and would have been talk of the town/palace, and was favored by Nobunaga, yet very few things about him was recorded? Also, people who became official samurai had been training in the Japanese sword for years and were masters of it. Somehow, I doubt Yasuke was able to master the Japanese way of the sword in a year, as well as the language. For added context, William Adams (white guy from Shogun) was very well documented and became an official samurai because of his contributions in ship building, diplomacy, and trade. What did Yasuke contribute? He carried Nobunaga's swords, that's all we know.
