Has anyone else went through this shift?
Uninstalled Helldivers 2 - Stale
Stopped playing Apex - Burnout
Uninstalled Street Fighter 6 - I tried to like the game but couldn't.
Now I've just been going back to old games I haven't played yet or some I haven't finished. I've honestly found those more enjoyable. Modded Fallout 4, Prey Mooncrash (haven't installed), Modded New Vegas. Also just been looking at buying games I've never considered like Noita, Snowrunner, No Mans Sky, and some indie titles.
I dunno, I think multiplayer gaming has tired me out lol.

Kinda the opposite for me
Single player gaming is so boring to me now, I feel like I am wasting my time playing games against no one, interacting with no one, I get like 0 satisfaction playing against ai because it's too easy. Hard mode isn't really harder as much is it usually just ramping up enemy health and extending the same exact type of gameplay to just take longer.
Aside from some time killer type games like vampire survivors, I really only care to sit and play when some friends are online for mp.
Every once in a while a single player game will come along that just throws that all out the window and I really enjoy but that's like once per generation. This gen was cyberpunk.Sometimes I park in handicap spaces, while handicap people make handicap faces

I'm not the type to get bored easily. I tend to play one game at a time and I do think when I tried in the past to play multiple games, it makes everything more jumbled and clouded. Different controls, different stories and events etc. Much prefer to just get immersed into one game at a time, gaming just feels more satisfactory that way for me.

Honestly I'd say my whole approach to buying and getting into video games has changed dramatically this gen. All the corruption in the journalism and industry has made me lose all trust for hype and praise. All the bullchit going on with online gaming has made me lose all interest in competitive online games. Years of getting the same chit pushed and praised has resulted in me being quick to dismiss entire genres and styles of video games.
Basically I just know what I like and I am sticking to what I naturally find appealing or interesting. I used to be into keeping up with the latest, not anymore unless it's one of those rare instances where something new looks interesting to me. That and I feel like AAA has largely become inconsumable trash this gen, AA games have become my main focus.

After so much disappointment I just stopped caring, but PC gaming scene is where I really came to appreciate the AA scene that has been really taking off lately. Heck I'd even call smaller major developers AA these days, basically anything that doesn't come off as a blatant corporate product.
Honestly that's one of the biggest problems with AAA these days, NPC slop. That is truly what it is. Just products churned out by big teams of big tech hires dictated by corporate executives referencing graph meant to appeal to the ignorant masses and extract money out of them. All the fun and passion is gone from that scene, the soul has been lost and all that remains is shallow empty husks with formerly great names branded on them.

I recently built the best computer I've ever had since I'm old enough now to where I can afford it, but soon after I built it I found myself not wanting to play the modern games I built it for. I guess when I was a kid and saw all the awesome computer games I was envious of my friends who had baller PCs. However, now that I have one I'm like ehh...
I did play BG3, Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, and Cyberpunk 2077... but that's it.

Well there are still lots of options for multiplayer so I understand. Multiplayers is much more lively, I just can't relax with it like I used to.
What do you feel like playing? There are a ton of older untouched titles, across lots of genres you can play.
Feel like it's been so long since we had a decent MMO. I still fook around on the City of Heroes and SWG private servers but that's rare.
New World seemed like a flop. I feel like all of the promising MMO's die, or get ruined shortly after release. Crimson Desert looks really cool, but it also looks like vaporware atp.
EDIT: Crimson Desert is not an MMO, it's just based on the MMO called Black Desert Online which is a TOTAL GRINDFEST
We all have that one game, I understand lol.Last edited by Voidgaze; 05-23-2024 at 07:21 PM.
