Just ran a 30k on basically no training (which is dumb I know). I’m a natural runner and my pace is alright and my cardio is alright as my pace was around 10:30-10:45 min miles, then later around 11-11:15 as I’ve never done 30k before and was nervous about going too fast
Felt really good and amazing until mile #15 and my legs essentially gave out. I could feel them tighten up and I couldn’t run faster than a fast walk as I was nervous they were gonna pull and I couldn’t finish. Eventually crossed the finish line at a bit faster pace and my legs were about to seize up lol. On mile 14 I ran a 9:30 pace so I was def feeling good. Some of the hills fukd me up
my wife asked the race organizers how I was doing around mile 13 and they said “really good, he’ll finish around X time” that ended up being cratered due to my legs failing me with 2.75 miles left
Was pretty frustrating cause I still felt ok but my body just gave up
Anyone else consistently run? Got any tips or funny stories

Mirin brah good chit. I love running but played too much basketball growing up (inb4 race jokes) so I can't run as much. Didn't even know that 30k's where a thing srs that's a lot of running.
Do not think that what is hard for you to master is humanly impossible; and if it is humanly possible, consider it to be within your reach.

I ran regularly in my 20's to early 30's. On a treadmill and occasionally on a track, so no hills. I never trained with elevating the treadmill. 3-5 miles every day. Got to always under 18 minutes for 3 miles. When I do 2 miles, it's a sprint from the start and usually 10.xx min. I think I did get under 10 min for 2 miles, but I don't keep track of this stuff so maybe I am just remembering wrong lol. This is on a treadmill.
I once wondered how far I could run. And I made it an easy pace. 7mph on a treadmill. I got up to 17 miles. My legs were fine, but my back was lighting up and I couldn't keep my arms up and suddenly I had to take a dump....like RIGHT NOW!!! You ever see the pic of a marathon runner ****ting his shorts......ya...I understand. Luckly, I made it to a toilet before that happened. I only did that one time, I could have kept running if I didn't have to poop. Maybe if I ran that distance regularly, that wouldn't be an issue. But running that distance takes a lot of time.☆☆☆USA яєω☆☆☆

Obviously I’m only giving advice on 30k not knowing anything going into it, but if you can do 10 miles you can do 30k with more training (18.6 miles).. the previous week I went out for a single run to decide if I was gonna do it and ran for 8 miles with no problems. That gave me the confidence to say I could do 18.6 and I was right, probably just unprepared for what I needed to do for my body for runs 15+ miles
I should have gotten those runners goo packets, and should have drank more at the drinking stations or brought a camelback with water with me. Looking back I probably wouldn’t have had my legs give out as fast if I had those things

Good job avoiding any injuries, once the legs go numb or extra heavy you lose ability to distinguish between fatigue or injury related pain . I stick to 5k or 10k, but I still pick up strains(chit prep work on my part). The frustrating thing about running is a few weeks not training will put you right back to square one. You'd probably suit 10k competitions. GJDM.
